Ryan Watts leaves the Steelers following a neck injury that ended his career.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have officially announced the release of cornerback Ryan Watts after a devastating neck injury brought an abrupt end to his promising football career. The shocking development has sparked outrage throughout the Steelers organization and the NFL community as a whole, highlighting once more the sport's harsh nature. Watts, 24, signed with Pittsburgh as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Texas in 2024. Despite not being selected in the NFL Draft, he quickly turned heads during rookie minicamp and training camp. Standing 6'3" and weighing 210 pounds, Watts combined rare physical attributes with sharp instincts on the field, earning praise from coaches and teammates alike. He was widely anticipated to be a long-term contributor for the Steelers' secondary. His NFL journey, however, took a tragic turn during an offseason practice session earlier this year. Watts collided awkwardly with a teammate during a routine coverage drill, and he immediately fell to the ground, clutching his neck. Team medical personnel responded swiftly, and Watts was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation. Following a battery of tests, specialists delivered grim news: the injury had caused severe spinal damage, posing significant risks if Watts ever attempted to play again. His doctors all agreed that he should stop playing professional football to avoid further harm. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the media with visible emotion as he discussed the team's decision to release Watts. "Ryan is everything you want in a young player—disciplined, tough, smart, and dedicated," Tomlin said. "It’s devastating to see his career end before it truly began. But the most important thing is his health and his future beyond football. Ryan will always have a place in the Steelers family." Watts himself released a heartfelt message through the team’s social media channels: "Football has been my passion since I was a kid. It gave me purpose, friendships, and memories I'll cherish forever. Though my playing days have ended sooner than I imagined, I'm grateful for every moment.

A Look Back: The Triple H/Batista Rivalry (Part I: WrestleMania 21)
Hard to believe that today is the 20th anniversary of WrestleMania 21. The very first WrestleMania that I watched. The event that gave us the first ever Money in the Bank Ladder Match, so yes, MITB also turns 20. The event that placed a 25-year-old Legend Killer against the Phenom, and it turned into a wild battle that spanned the rest of the calendar year. The event that pitted the Showstopper against a legend who won a Gold Medal with a broken freakin' neck. The event where the man who defined the words, "Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect," reached the top for the very first time.

Reviewing John Cena's Wild Heel Promo
The last time John Cena was heel, I was 18. It was months after I received my high school diploma, and I was just starting college. Today, I turn the big 4-0. And one day prior, I received an early birthday present: Cena kicking things off in heel fashion. 21 years. That's long fans waited for a John Cena heel turn. That's also how long I, a diehard Colorado Avalanche fan, waited for a Stanley Cup. My wish got fulfilled first.
