We talk pucks and objects of that kind. We yell, complain, and analyze in the language of hockey fandom. Gretzky can do no wrong.
John Jay Steps up with 15-7 Win over Minisink Valley
Please see tip, pledge and subscribe buttons below Video On Friday May 3, John Jay had a few different looks when they took on Minisink Valley at Contest Field. Jojo Degl was out due to injury and simply had Coach Jess McDonough staying on point. “We can’t control when somebody gets hurt. We can only control how we respond,” she said. And then it was just a matter of how well the message sunk in.

PWHL Finals Game Three: One Win Away
The first-ever PWHL Finals switched scenes to the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota, the exact home of the NHL's Minnesota Wild. Two games would be played at the arena, and that was guaranteed due to Minnesota's 3-0 win over Boston in Game Two of the Finals. The win evened things up at 1-1, turning the Finals into a best-of-three affair.

But only one team went home a winner, and three straight goals were the deciding factor.

PWHL Finals Game Two: Dominance
The first ever PWHL Finals started with a back and forth Game One on Sunday, with Minnesota's team scoring first, but Boston's team ending up with the victory by a score of 4-3. Similar to the Semifinals, the Finals is played under a best-of-five format, and in those situations, losing Game One really puts a team's back against the wall. Game Two was Minnesota's chance to strike back in response to their Game One loss, or face having to win three straight the rest of the way. I say this even though Minnesota already pulled off one reverse sweep in the Semifinals.

2024 Conference Finals Preview
I've said this many times before; I always love the final round before the final round. The last stop before the grand finale. In the NFL, it's the Conference Championships. In MLB, it's the League Championship Series. Finally, in the NBA and the NHL, it's the Conference Finals. That's where both leagues are right now, and regarding the NHL, it's the round that will determine who will play for the prestigious Stanley Cup. The NHL has had some intriguing Final Fours in recent years, and this year is no different.

What Went Wrong: Canucks Fizzle in Game Seven
This was quite the dream season for the Vancouver Canucks. It was the best year they've had since the 2010-11 season. There were high expectations for the Canucks. Thatcher Demko's up for the Vezina. Quinn Hughes is up for the Norris. Players like Elias Pettersson, JT Miller, and Brock Boeser are lighting the lamp in bunches. It looked like things would go well for Vancouver.

PWHL Finals Game One: Her-story Begins
The Professional Women's Hockey League is, without question, the best thing to happen in the great sport of hockey. The first time I watched any form of women's hockey was in 2018, and it was during the Olympics. My reasons were simple: I didn't want to be disappointed in the U.S.'s efforts in hockey anymore. I knew that the women would dominate and kick some keister, and that's what happened. Our women's team brought the gold home in 2018, and in 2022, we captured the silver. The latter year was Jesse Compher's first foray into the Olympics, and it kicked off a big year for the Compher family. Just months later, Jesse's brother, J.T., won the Stanley Cup as a member of the Colorado Avalanche.

Wolves Hold Jay Fest Over Greeley
Video Jay Fest had the boys lacrosse team right in the middle of the annual celebration with the 12 O’Clock game at Contest Field. Horace Greeley the serving, the Wolves jumped out to an 8-2 first half lead. But Quakers refused to be cooked, and John Jay seemed to oblige. “We came out of the half a little nonchalant,” said Andrew Kiefer, and the score closing to 9-6, a reset was needed.

What Went Wrong: Derailed
The saddest part of this: it seemed almost inevitable. The Colorado Avalanche were coming off humilating the very goalie who will (most likely) win the Vezina Trophy this year, and we were in the catbird seat waiting for the dust to settle in the Dallas Stars/Vegas Golden Knights series. The momentum continued in Game One; a big time overtime win after trailing 3-0. The Avs lost Game Two, but we nearly pulled off another comeback. Even so, it was 1-1 heading home, but Game Three didn't go well for us. Despite this, we were still at home, and we had a chance to rectify things.

What Went Wrong: Hurricanes' Last Chance?
Losing sucks, but one thing I always praise is when a team doesn't go down without a fight. We saw this with the Carolina Hurricanes in their Metropolitan Division Final series against the New York Rangers. The Canes lost the first three games of the series, leading to the conclusion that the Rangers would literally sweep their way to the Eastern Conference Final. However, the Canes managed to break the brooms in Game Four, and really get to Igor Shesterkin in not only Games Four and Five, but Game Six as well. After winning those two games, the Canes had a 3-1 lead entering the third period, and that had fans thinking that the dreaded reverse sweep would happen.

The Evolution of Sports Telecasts
I am amazed and fascinated over how sports telecasts have changed and grown over the years, and it continues to evolve even at this advanced age. NBA, NHL, and MLB telecasts have all grown a lot, but this evolution is especially true when it comes to the NFL.
