Secret Shopper Reviews: K&B Home Etc and Cafe is Milton's #1 Boutique, Comic Shop, Record Store & Place to Grab a Sandwich or Coffee
One of my favorite type of assignments I get here for Emerald Coast's Best is our Secret Shopper Reviews. It's the ultimate test for a business, not knowing there is anybody there secretly judging them. Although, in the age of internet reviews, I guess you could argue that everybody has the potential to be doing that. When I was told to check out K&B Home Etc and Cafe recently, I wasn't sure what to think. They are a newer business and I don't get the pleasure of traveling to Milton often so I hadn't heard of them before. After a bit of asking around, and as you can see below, I got some incredibly different answers.

The Holiday Inn, Maidenhead, England
Due to various restrictions here in the UK because of COVID 19, “hoomins” as my great artistic friend Pegs calls members of the servant species, are unable to travel as freely as they used to. So, it has befallen to Mitzi and I to visit various hotels and prepare reviews of our visits for when you hoomins or, ”servants” as I refer to you can resume regular travel.

Sensational Sweden (Travel from Home #10)
It started with the realization that I could indulge my love for Fredrik Backman’s stories if I fake visited Sweden, so I put it next on my list of travel from home destinations. There is an IKEA near enough to me that I could conveniently pick up food from their food market as well. The amazing food, the book, the movie, and the music all combined to be one of my favorite travel from home trips yet.

The Greying of the Light
It was an odd thing to watch the greying of the light as we descended between the ever darkening layers of clouds. What was once a bright and clear flight had now become ash and soot colored as we touched down in the paradoxical city of Berlin - a city that boldly tries to outlive the hauntingly grievous recent past by splattering modern fonts and slogans over aged buildings. And yet it was the further past that brought us presently to this place - a celebration of protesting, of reforming, of such paradigm altering hermeneutics that the waves of that seismic shift are still experienced in every corner of Christendom. However, there was one melancholy thought that rested on my mind throughout the days - a thought, planted by a minister, that I had been wrestling with, as Jacob strove with the angel. For many, this would not have bothered them. Unfortunately, I was unable to shrug this amassing phrase from my conscience as we drove through this water colored city.

What Comes After Outlander
If you’re like me and love all things Scottish you will have devoured the series Outlander and will be hanging out for the next season. I binge-watched the first 5 seasons and then started to rewatch from the beginning. We are now in what we call a “Droughtlander”. Covid 19 destroyed all the plans for Season 6 and we are desperate to see more of our beloved Laird Jamie and his Sassenach bride, Claire. I believe there is still something in me of the Scottish blood from my Ayrshire ancestors who braved the seas to travel across the world to Australia all those many years ago. The skirl of the bagpipes makes my heart soar. The scenery is to die for – and Outlander is full of beautiful scenery. The food – okay some of the food, while delicious and filling, is probably not terribly healthy, but haggis...and yes I have eaten it...is a surprising delight. Scotland calls to my soul.

Charley Boorman "Long Way Up!"
When Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman set out on a long range motorbike trip through South and Central America late last year, they couldn’t have known what they’d create: content that could, potentially, uplift and soothe an audience going stir-crazy from a pandemic lockdown and various political crises. For McGregor and Boorman, it was just another adventure—their third, in fact, to be filmed for TV audiences.

Apartment Life in Fort Wayne
Searching for a place to live is no doubt one of the most stressful, time-consuming, costly, and important decisions that you can make in your life. And if you live in the decently large city of Fort Wayne like me, those waters can be difficult to navigate without knowing some information beforehand.
