What Can I Do?

Introduction

Today has not been a good day for me mentally. I really have not felt like it has been worth doing anything. I don't know why I am feeling like this. This is the third Vocal piece I have published today, and I think there may be another one to come, but there is part of me mentally that is saying,

"Why bother, you know you don't matter, and whatever you do, no one will be interested".

I know that is a lie, and it has happened before, and I have written about it before. So, as always, I try and find a way to do something about it.

So What To Do

I have listened to a new record that I bought yesterday:

I bought that mainly for Jimi's version of Johnny B Goode, which sounds monstrous on the record player.

I then went out to Billy Bootleggers, which was great as usual, but there were a hell of a lot of people there so I wasn't feeling that great, but got a little video of Bucky Rage:

I then got home and continued watching series three of the excellent "Slow Horses":

Then I did a blog post on "Laughter In Carthage" a book I am reading at the moment:

And now I am writing this Vocal story, and feeling a lot better.

Conclusion

I think the answer to situations like these, and it might even work with writer's block, is just to do something, absolutely anything, and then that in turn sort of oils the creative mechanisms in yourself, and once again you are on the go.

Thank you so much for indulging me with this, and I hope I have given you some ideas in case you get hit like this, and now I have some real creative stories in my sights.

The music is "Roadblock" by Big Brother & The Holding Company with Janis Joplin

So glad you know those thoughts are lies; of course people are interested in what you share. That is great advice: to do just anything to the gears rolling. I'm gonna have to try that next time (especially as writer's block is frequent with my brain, lol). Thank you for sharing this, Mike!

You are the boss in writing and did the absolute best thing a writer can do. When blocked step away find something else and bingo things happen.

  • Yup. The best way to cope with it is to just do stuff that you like. Writer's block usually comes with stress.
