Collaborated
Hannah Moore and I recently collaborated on writing a micro fiction (Placing Wagers) for a Vocal + Assist Facebook group Lost in the Story challenge. Neither of us had ever written anything with another writer and was unsure how to proceed. We worked with a 300-word limit on this challenge to make matters even more complicated. Here are some takeaways from working with an author from ‘across the pond’ and for first-time collaborators.

Quiet Noise at Night
A shotgun house is what they called it in New Orleans, La. As an only child I was just me and my grandmother. My mother passed away when I was just a toddler at the age of 3 years old. She died from lupus way back in the early 1960's, I was born in 1958. My mother asked her mother/my grandmother to raise me because my mother knew she was not going to be on this earth to raise me.

Celebrating Impact(3): Margaret Mitchell
Which of us has not heard of the thought-provoking iconic movie, Gone With The Wind (1939)? Despite the story being written way back in 1936, the book is still making its mark on society through new generations of avid readers. However, why am I featuring its famous White author in my Black History Month tributes? Simply because I was blown away to learn of her involvement in improving the lives of African Americans in her locality at a time when even looking at a person across the segregated colour divide could cost someone his life!

Past the Shroud of Shadows
In the peaceful town of Havenbrook, settled between thick woodlands and moving slopes, there existed a legend that had been murmured starting with one age then onto the next. It was said that just past the edges of town, concealed profound inside the dim and old woods, lay a spot known as the Cloak of Shadows — a domain where reality and dreams interweaved, and the line among constantly obscured.

She was known all through the town for her unfathomable creative mind and her capacity to transform the standard into the remarkable. To Elara, the world was a material ready to be painted with the dynamic shades of her imagination.

Mathematical Modeling of the Written Universe
The expanding universe and the Friedmann equation Alexander Friedmann of Russia is credited with developing a dynamic equation for the expanding universe in the 1920s. At the same time Einstein, Willem de Sitter of the Netherlands, and Georges Lemaitre of Belgium were also working on equations to model the universe. Friedmann developed his version as a relativistic equation in the framework of general relativity, but the description used here, and (in our theoretical model presented below) applied to the written universe will be limited to a simplified, non-relativistic version based on Newton’s laws. Convenient forms of Friedmann’s equation with which to examine the expansion time and temperature for a big bang model of the actual universe are shown below
