What About My Destiny?
His childhood passed as he walked on tiptoes, to avoid provoking his father's anger and to avoid being noticed by his bullying friends, and out of fear of awakening the ghosts of the dark. He was very delicate and felt isolated among all the harsh people surrounding him, as if he were a banner of peace fluttering among the ruins of a battlefield littered with blood and ashes. When he wanted to sleep at nine o'clock, he would dig his small fingers into his hair and move it around to fall asleep. Unable to, he would clear his throat of remnants of tears and sobs to sing himself a lullaby to help him sleep, and he would not finish this cleansing until dawn. His singing was accompanied by sighs and stuttering. He did not interact much with people, so he was not good at speaking and stuttered a lot. He loved being with trees and birds, and a small colt, which he considered his only friend, would sneak up to him whenever his mother was away from him, as the colt frightened him with its size and the noise of its neighing. Then, after several nights, he was shocked to find that the colt had grown to the size of his mother, which he had always feared. This disappointment almost tore his heart apart.

THE WEIGHT OF FREEDOM’S PRICE
**The Weight of Freedom’s Price: A Story of Survival** I was born into slavery. My earliest memories are of the blistering heat of the Southern sun and the endless fields of cotton stretching out before me. My name is Isaiah, and for most of my life, I knew nothing of freedom. It was a word spoken in hushed tones, something too costly to dream about. Yet, deep within me, a fire flickered, one that even the overseer's whip couldn't extinguish.

The Gentleman, My Father
I was four, stepping into kindergarten, giant tears streaming down my cheeks, letting fluid escape my nostrils. My mother knelt at the gate, wiping my face with a squared floral handkerchief pinned mirroring an isosceles triangle. I would look into her eyes and plead, “Do not abandon me.” She would return it with a sigh entangled in warmth and say, “You’ll love it in there.” I would plead, looking at my father with the intention that at least one of them would hand out their arm to me, and the horror would meet its fate.

200 - and Counting
Two hundred. That will be the number of stories I've published on Vocal if this one is blessed by the curators. I wouldn't have realized it if I hadn't thought about checking my profile after congratulating another creator about #150. (congrats again, Savannah:)

A truth
If you have a truth it could never be taken away from you no matter how quiet it sounds when you say it out loud, it could never be taken away from you no matter if people try and squash it down or dilute the tears it’s cried out, it will remain and be fulfilled, it can never be taken away from you.

Paid Subscriptions - My Perks
I won't lie. When I first saw the new "exclusive stories" or the new "paid subscribers" update, my first thought was, 'Who would pay for MY exclusive stories?'. I began panicking... wondering what on earth would I ever use that for. How would I ever use that feature? But... this new feature could, maybe, just maybe, help me guide my way towards my own passions.
