1940s Films and the Unreliable Narrator
“I remember the day that Vocal challenged me to write a story with an unreliable narrator.” So says the disembodied voice, just a heartbeat after we hear the shots and see a corpse face down in the sparsely furnished, cheap motel room.

Summoning the Pantheon
Hey all you lovely writers! 🩷 Something that I have loved over the last months is taking part in other writer’s unofficial challenges, they have been so much fun! So I’m going to be brave and try and put my own unofficial challenge out there for you all to attempt (or not attempt if you choose not to)

The Thrill of New Beginnings and the Satisfaction of Completion
Despite reflecting on whether I prefer to make a fresh start or to finish up with something that has taken so much of my effort, I realize it is hard to decide because each can be intense in its own way. 20,000+ Reads and Counting - Reflections
“Always celebrate your wins. Big or small.” – Leigh Shulman So, I am not even sure what to say. That is from March 2021 when I first joined up until today when I published this.

A real town called Raymond
Quite a few people, having read my flash fiction story, "A Town called Raymond" have asked me whether there really is a town in California called Raymond and yes, there really is. Whether it is historical or scientific fact, or snippets from my own knowledge, experience or life story, truth can often enhance fiction, if you know how to use it.

My Thoughts on Exclusive Stories
THE LOW DOWN I'm sure if you've been on Vocal in the last 24 hours you've become aware of the new "exclusive stories" feature that the Vocal team has launched on the site. It's something the community has been asking for for years: an update on the "pledges" feature that had little to no value for readers, nor the writers besides a very kind and generous monthly tip.
