UK In Early Stages Of Third Wave Of Covid 19
The United Kingdom is proposing to reach the next stage of it's opening up of it's economy on 21st June. This is even though cases of Covid 19 are now beginning to rise again. This has mainly been due to new cases of the disease which have been caused by a new variant from India which is said to be more contagious and can spread quicker than previous variants. The governments chief scientists who are members of the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) state that the new changes are likely to cause even more cases of the disease in the country which are likely to overwhelm the National Health Service which is already under extreme pressure. It has recommended that the next stage of the opening up of the UK economy be delayed until more people have had a chance to be vaccinated.

Covid 19 Pandemic Increases Mental Health Crisis In Over 60's
90% of over 60's face a Covid mental health crisis. That's according to ONS data from Befriending Network Companions. The study which looked at how the way people lived their lives from before the pandemic to during came up with some very interesting findings which show how much of a toll the pandemic took on people and the increase in certain mental health conditions.

New Report Reveals Experiences Of Black And Minority Ethnic People In The Workplace
A new report which was published in a white paper from leading recruiter Robert Walters who surveyed over 7,500 professionals year-on-year between 2019-2021 has illustrated that black and minority ethnic professionals continue to be disadvantaged in their careers. The findings show that 42% of black professionals do not receive a pay increase after negotiation – double the number of white professionals. The figure is much starker for black women, where an overwhelming 63% do not receive a pay increase following salary negotiation.

UK Enters Next Phase Of Easing Lockdown
The UK has released a list of further measures which come as part of Prime Minister Boris Johnson's roadmap to releasing the lock down that was put in place due to the Covid 19 pandemic. This is because the rate at which people are dying due to the disease has gone down meaning people have been following the measures which were put in place to try and control the rate at which it has been spreading round the country. This means that as of Monday seventeenth May, people will have more freedom as to the way they lead their lives. They will have to exercise their own judgement at times and ensure they stay with in the boundaries of the new regulations which have been put in place and maintain that everybody else that they come in to contact with remains safe and healthy. So what has changed and why?

Clubbers Return To Liverpool Music Scene To Test Effect Of Removing Restrictions
As part of UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson's road map to releasing the Covid 19 lockdown, a number of events were arranged in Liverpool over the weekend to analyse the impact of holding mass events with no restrictions now that most people in the UK have had at least one dose of a Covid 19 vaccine. The events that had been arranged included a number of large music events across the city of Liverpool which people could attend with out the need for social distancincing or wearing face coverings.

Europe's Biggest Football Teams Plan The Creation Of New European Super League
Twelve of Europe's biggest football clubs have come up with a joint agreement to form a new European Super League which is meant to be an alternative or replacement to the UEFA Champions League. The Premier League's so-called 'Big Six' joined Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Juventus and the two Milan clubs as the 12 of the 15 'founding' members of the new 20-team breakaway league. The tournament would be an elitist event which would be held every year which would have no forms of promotion or relegation.

Salford To License All Small Shared Homes
Shared homes with more than three or four tenants in Salford are now required to be licensed by their landlords. This scheme will come in to force from July 19th this year and will cover the whole of the Salford area. It will last for around five years and will mean that all landlords will have to pay a one off fee for the license which can also be paid in instalments.

April is Stress Awareness Month and there are a number of events or initiatives taking place to help raise awareness of the different kinds of stress people can suffer from and the techniques which can be used to help relieve this to put people in a more relaxed state of mind. This initiative has been held every April since 1992 but despite running for many years, still has a long way to go to help make people aware of the different signs and symptoms to look out for if someone is feeling stressed. According to the Mental health Foundation 74% of UK adults have felt so stressed at some point over the last year they felt overwhelmed or unable to cope.

It's been a tough year for us all during the pandemic as most of the time we have been in lock down and were not allowed to go out unless absolutely necessary. If we went to the shops, we were only meant to buy the bare essentials for what we need to survive. There were even security staff inside some supermarkets checking our trolleys and baskets to see if we were picking up any luxuries which wasn't allowed.
