UK Ends Temporary £20 Uplift
When the UK was going through the worst stages of the pandemic, and the country was in lock down meaning that people had to stay at home unless their work or tasks were extremely necessary, UK Chancellor Of The Exchequer Rishi Sunak added a temporary £20 uplift to the Universal Credit benefit. This was to ensure that those who received it had enough money to afford the basic essentials. This was due to the fact that people were told to work from home where ever possible. Some people may of even lost their jobs as their employers didn't have enough money to pay them because of a lack of foot fall and customers in their businesses. Some workers may have even been furloughed from their main work place meaning that the government would pay half their salary.

Public Encouraged To Help Tackle Hate Crime
UK police recorded over a hundred thousand incidents of hate crime in the country last year. This was 8% higher than the previous year and illustrate an extremely worrying trend that racism and other forms of discrimination are on the rise. This could be due to a number of reasons including the Brexit vote. Now that the UK has left the European Union, tougher boarder controls have been put in place as the UK has regained control of who can come in to the country.

Facebook Suffers Global Outage
A faulty configuration change was said to be at fault for the world's largest social media platform going down for nearly six hours on Monday. Round the globe, the company's 3.5 billion users were unable to access apps and services which included Wattsapp and Instagram. This left them with no way of being able to contact friends and family who may have been living in different countries round the world, making them feel more isolated at a time when we have all been being encouraged to have as little social contact with other people, to prevent the spread of the Covid 19 virus.

Black History Month is an annual observance which is signified all round the world. It began in the United States Of America where it is also known as African American History Month. It is now officially recognised by the governments of Canada, and in more recent times has been observed in Ireland and the United Kingdom. It originated as a way of remembering important people and events in the history of the African diaspora. It is celebrated at different times through out the year in different countries. In the USA and Canada it is celebrated in February whilst in the United Kingdom and Ireland, it is celebrated in October.

UK Government Puts New System In Place For Home Owners
In January this year, the former Secretary Of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government Robert Jenrick announced plans that the government was aiming to create new legislation that would allow the owners of leasehold properties to extend their current lease by around nine hundred and ninety years with no need to pay any ground rent. This could potentially save leaseholders thousands of pounds a year and give them the security of knowing that they own the property they live in for the long term and won't be forced out on to the street any time soon.

UK Announces Plan For New Health And Social Care Tax
Plans for a new Health and Social Care tax rise have been laid out by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson during a press conference which was delivered on Tuesday. The aim of the tax will be to raise around £12 billion a year through people's national insurance contributions to help fund health and social care commitments. The prime minister described the plan which includes capping health and social care costs in England at £86, 000 as reasonable and fair.

Disabled People Choose Whether Or Not To Take Action To Get Support They Need
There are approximately eight point four million disabled people of working age in the United Kingdom. Out of this four point four million (53.6 %) are currently in employment. This compares with 81.7% of people who are not disabled being in work. The unemployment rate for disabled people is twice that of those who are non disabled as 8.4% of disabled people are unemployed compared with 4.6% of people who aren't disabled.

A new global, human rights movement aimed at helping to support the 1.2 billion people with disabilities is due to launch soon. The WeThe15 movement is a decade long campaign which will transform the lives of disabled people all round the world. The campaign is being led by multiple global organisations around the world including the International Paralympic Committee, International Disability Alliance, UN Human Rights, UNESCO, UNAOC amongst others. This means, that for the first time ever, different sports events, tournaments and organisations will join forces to work together and collaborate. This will include events such as the Special Olympics and Invictus Games joining forces with the IPC and International Committee of Sports For The Deaf working together to highlight the difficulties that disabled people face around the world.
