Leading Talent Agency Says Diversity Should Still Be At The Top Of The Agenda
Just under half of UK based businesses are committed to implementing diversity in hiring strategies through out their organisations. That’s according to a poll conducted on LinkedIn by Wilson HCG. The findings come at a time when employers are seemingly dropping their diversity, equality, inclusion and belonging hiring focus. Those who responded stated that their organisations were very committed to bringing in more applicants and candidates from more diverse backgrounds but that much more needed to be done to create a more level playing field in which everyone can take part and prosper.

Date Set For UK General Election
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has fired the starting pistol for the 2024 UK General Election. On the steps of 10 Downing Street, he gave a speech in which he declared that the date the country would be able to choose its next government would be Thursday 4th July. This was due to the fact that he felt that stability was now returning to the economy and the country as a whole. This would enable people to have more confidence in what they do in their daily lives which would help them find work more easily in an effort to afford a comfortable standard of living during a time when they may be seeing prices for different products and services rising in today’s market place.

Liverpool Bids Farewell To Jurgen Klopp
There wasn’t a dry eye in the house yesterday at Anfield as Liverpool brought down the curtain on what was a glorious nine-year spell by manager Jurgen Klopp. During the time Klopp brought back the glory days and achieved some of the things that his predecessors had been unable to. He was able to guide the Reds to their first ever Premier League title which was their nineteenth top flight title overall. He also managed to win the Champions League as well as the League Cup during his time with the club making him one of the most successful managers the club has ever had.

Transgender People More Likely To Be Self Employed
Research from Trinity Business School has revealed that people who are classed as transgender are more likely to opt to go in to self-employment, rather than face any forms of discrimination during the application process for different jobs. The study which was conducted by Klavs Ciprikis from the Economic and Social Research Institute, Damien Cassells from NUI Maynooth and Jenny Berrill from Trinity Business School, looked at a wide sample of transgender people who were based in the United States and discovered that cisgender men were more likely to want to work for themselves and perhaps start their own businesses than cisgender women.

UK Announces Plans To Reform Benefit System
The Conservative government is set to lay out plans in which it intends to reform the benefit system in the UK. Personal Independence Payments were introduced in as a replacement for the existing Disability Living Allowance system. The aim was to provide people of working age with a regular payment which would help to support people with the extra costs they may incur from having a long term disability or health conditions. The amount people received depended on how difficult they found it to complete everyday task or move around from place to place. The maximum amount someone could get per week was £184.30.

NHS Waiting Lists Continue To Fall As Staff Tackle Covid Backlog
Recently released statistics have illustrated that the number of patients waiting for NHS treatment has fallen for the fourth month in a row. This comes as part of a package of data which was released to find out how the Health System was coping after the pandemic and after all Covid restrictions were eased. The new monthly data from January prove that the number of patients waiting for appointments or procedures of any kind fell by just under 28, 000 compared with the previous month where the number of patients on waiting lists was 7.6 million. This ties in with the fact that there has been a total fall of just under 200, 000 since September last year. The number of patients waiting also fell by 43,053 in January (6.32m vs 6.37m in Dec) and is now 174,056 lower than in September (6.5m).

NHS Execs More Diverse Than Ever Before
There are now more NHS staff from a black or minority ethnic background than at any point in it's history. That's according to an annual report which looked at race equality across the health service. The study which looked at data from 2023 analysed the different members of staff in senior positions across the health service and looked at how accurately they portrayed the representation of different cultures through out society. This helps to ensure that no one community or group of citizens is discriminated against because of where in the world they come from.

New research from the University Of Cologne has revealed that women are less likely to believe that they can get in to a good university. The study which was lead by Professor Marita Jacob in conjunction with Melinda Erdmann and Marcel Helbig, looked in to why secondary school girls were more likely to refrain from enrolment in to college or university.

That's according to a survey of around four thousand young people with one in ten of them saying that being a doctor was their top pick. The findings come as part of National Careers Week where the NHS has been the talk of the town.
