Confession Coverup
“Very few of us are what we seem,” Agatha Christie once said. This story seems like it was taken right out of the pages of the bestsellers novels, alas it is a true story of creed and an alleged modern-day Lady Macbeth. A story so convoluted that even Shonda Rhimes doesn’t want to adapt it. Here’s how a stage actor killed one person to steal money and then another to cover up the first and lead to his own downfall. Seriously.

Like For Nothing
“Like my page!” It’s one of the most common posts on writing groups on Facebook. It seems like every day there are millions upon millions of requests for someone to like a business or Author Page. Here’s the thing though, that doesn’t do anyone any good. Having 1,000 likes is great, but what if none of those people actually like you? Let’s explore what will really help your business grow.

Sex Sells
“Sex sells.” It’s an old advertising adage. It might be shocking that at one point, I had considered advertising as a career. The answer to the question, why is because I wanted to do something creative. In Michigan, and I’m guessing throughout most of the mid-west, we are told that there is no money in writing. Sure, there are journalists, but with the newspaper industry dying a slow death, parents worry about their kids having a decent career. Being the rebel I am, the decision to write came after I lost my job eight years ago. I have been a writer, a paid writer for almost a decade!

The Allure of Public Sex
“I want to fuck you in Central Park!” So read one message that I received on Whisper, the app that is supposed to be anonymous but has turned into another place for people to hook up. The gentleman (using that word lightly here) didn’t even say hello, that was his first message. Two things that will be unpacked in future essays, first who starts off talking like that and does it usually work? Second, the guy claimed to be straight but knew an awful lot about gay sex. Most importantly though, it got me to wondering about why people are so turned on by sex in public.

Cannibal Competent
Here’s a pro tip for all the straight guys: When your girlfriend (or fuck buddy) asks you to eat her, she doesn’t mean like a hamburger. That should go without saying, but here we are. 36-year-old Joseph Oberhansley apparently did not get that memo as he is accused of raping, killing, and eating his ex-girlfriend’s corpse. Maybe killing her worked up an appetite?

Accept or Reject: The Truth About Consent
“Stupid bitch!” It’s a phrase that more than one man has screamed at a woman who has turned down his advances. If they are in a group of buddies, they will sometimes mutter something like, “She must be a dyke. Why wouldn’t she want this?” To which the group will mostly cheer and try to rally the fallen one. It’s a gross miscarriage of what actually happened and needs to stop. There are a couple of memes going around social media that should help clear up the confusion that seems to happen.

Movie Set Heist
Some things are just too good to be true. This was my thought as I was recording an episode of Drunk Gossip, my podcast. There was a missing segment that needed to be filled, and then my celebrity gossip alert sounded off—the snippet read "Sean Young wanted by the police." Celebrity gossip and true crime? It was a win/win! Why is the actress wanted? She was caught on tape stealing production computers from Charley Boy, a film she was supposed to direct.

Boys to the Yard, Men to My Bed
“My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard...” Kelis croon-brags on her iconic song, “Milkshake.” While she certainly isn’t using the lyrics to advocate for pedophilia, they certainly can be examined that way. This process lead me to declare that only men are allowed to experience my milkshake. Men rolled their eyes saying, "that was the implication," but females were a tad more concerned about the meaning of the song. It also started a conversation about age and relationships.

The Puppet Fetish
“You can be as loud as the hell as you want, when you’re making love,” so croons Avenue Q’s Gary Coleman. Something to think about here, in the #MeToo age the song doesn’t hold up as it can be interpreted as being vaguely rape-y. Also, someone has likely jerked off to the song. While the Puppet fetish may have always existed, it’s about to become more mainstream, thanks to the new movie, The Happy Time Murders and of course the aforementioned off Broadway musical, Avenue Q.

The Joy of Anal Sex
Anal sex is great. It’s an experience that is not easily forgotten by either party. And it’s one of the only experiences that heterosexual and homosexual couples can bond over. Is there anything anal sex can’t do? The answer to that question is no; it can do just about anything.

Mob Gone Wild
It was a game of who’s worse, the porn purveyor or the mafia? The answer always changes depending on who is being asked the question. Though there was a moment in time when Joe Francis, creator of the Girls Gone Wild franchise, was believed to be the lesser of the two evils, now the man responsible for the incident that softened Francis’ image, even for a few days, is revealing why he committed the crimes that led to him serving jail time.

Does Size Matter?
Does size matter? It’s a question that I am asked more often by straight guys than anything else. After they ask, they always want to show off what they’re packing, either via picture or in real life. If they are told that they don’t have the biggest one around, they freak out and ask how they compensate for their shortcomings. The answer is as simple as it is complex for them; most of the time the girls that they are dating will confide that the advice given fell on deaf ears.
