Tribute to the Stars
During this amazing 2022 year we had to say farewell to a lot of amazing entertainers. Like everyone else, entertainers pass away all the time, but it seems like this year we just lost so many more in a much larger capacity. I’ve written about several of them who have had a big impact on me, including Ray Liotta and Jason David Frank, so now I want pay tribute to some of our other favorite entertainers who parted ways with us this year.

Soul Holiday
It’s Friday night and Carol Simmons is drunk driving in her Chevy Malibu. As she speeds down the road her radio is blasting the song “Sleigh Ride” from TLC as she sings along. “Have a merry merry Christmas and a happy new year (happy new year).” She sings while speeding down the road at nearly 60 miles an hour. In the middle of singing “Sleigh Ride” the radio suddenly switches songs and starts playing “Soul Holiday” by Sounds Of Blackness.” “It's time to celebrate. Let's all come together to share our hearts of love, that we feel for one another.” the lyrics continue as Carol’s mood changes. “Aw man, why’d they have to change up on me? Knowin’ this is my favorite part. This is why I only like Apple Music now.” she said while taking her eyes off the road to speak to the radio in an animated manner.

People Who Inspired Me To Be A Writer: DMX. Top Story - December 2022.
"To live is to suffer, but to survive, well that's to find meaning in the suffering." - DMX. As a writer I draw influence from many people and places, including the areas of my other passions, one of which is of course music. I've been rapping my whole life and Hip Hop is a part of my entire soul. I've done a lot of writing as a lyricist and one of my top three favorite rappers of all time has played one of the biggest roles in that lyrical influence: Earl "DMX" Simmons.

Scream: The series that inspired me to study filmmaking
It is the summer of 1997. Me and my older sister are over my dad’s house for the weekend. My dad shares a place with my uncle who has a lot of movies. My uncle lets me and my sister watch movies from his stash, our favorite movie to watch out of all of them: Scream (1996). This movie would of course become one of my favorite films ever and it also became a hit series. This series would become my top favorite movie series of all time and the reason why I have a passion for the art of filmmaking.

The Gift
Thursday night, December 15th. At the Gilmore family home the Gilmores are packing their bags to take their yearly family Christmas trip to the mountains. Otis and his wife Mary are downstairs packing in their room while their children Jacob and Tamara are upstairs in their rooms packing. “Did they call you back and confirm our reservation at the cabin?” Otis asked Mary. “Yes.” She replied. “Johnny made sure we were good earlier today, they’ll have the cabin ready before we get there.” As they filled their luggages with clothes there seemed to be an aura of contempt between them. They periodically were making eye contact with each other with straight faces, but were not speaking to each other.
