Egg-stra-sized . Runner-Up in Absurdist Awakening Challenge.
That time I went to Toronto for a weekend visit with my friends, the drive back didn’t go as expected. Whenever I am in Canada, I stock up on Canadian honey and snacks at Costco. I’m not the only American doing that. There are no Costco stores around Buffalo, so when I shop at the Niagara Falls Costco, I see many cars with the US plates.

Vicarishame - 5
I was driving most of the day today, getting only the snippets of the big news on the radio because NPR was running away from the frequencies available to me. But even the little news that broke through the static made me facepalm myself in shame for Trump.

February 24 - Forever Black Day
This day is particularly dark for me as we are marking three full years of Russia's assault on Ukraine. There was a large rally and demonstration in Washington, DC on Saturday, Feb.22, and several large cities have planned activities such as rallies, demonstrations, requiems and prayers over the weekend and today.

My Grandmother's Kulchatay. Runner-Up in A Taste of Home Challenge.
If I were to name one dish from my culture that defined me, I'd say it was kulchatay (pronounced /ku:l-cha-'tay/) from the northern rural region of Kyrgyzstan where I spent my summers as a child and teenager, on my grandparents’ farm.

"She'll Lose Her Hat!"
Picture the dead of the Siberian winter, when people bundle up and look like Russian nesting dolls. In a rundown high-rise apartment building, an old woman is dragging a little girl up the stairs, by the girl's foot, with the girl's head banging on the stairs.

Confession Time
Confession Time is a live radio show that also streams as a podcast to expand the audience, which is now estimated at 12 million people. It is hosted by a young male with a pleasant radio voice and a professional retired therapist, a wise grandmother character. The 30-min show takes up to three calls from complete strangers who want to work through something they need to confess on air. The calls are always authentic (not selected or screened by the show producers) and anonymous. To ease the callers, their voice is modified during the call. The show uses simulated audience reaction noises administered by the host, but there’s no audience at the studio. Below is a transcript of one of its shows.

55. Top Story - February 2025.
I turned 55 on Sunday, Feb. 2, the Groundhog Day. And it hit me hard. I do occasionally suffer from the Birthday Blues. You know, no one's getting younger and every year is another wrinkle on your face and in other places. I know, I know, there are a lot of people even in this community who might think, "55! I wish I were that young again!" and I do understand them. I really do. We all have different perspectives on our own age.

Creamy Mushroom & Spinach Salmon
I’ve seen this recipe in my Facebook reels multiple times in slightly different variations and wanted to try it for a long time but never had all the ingredients for it. Yesterday, I finally did. So here it is, shared for your pleasure.
