Whether or Not You May Like It, Rap Music Matters
Many people in and out of the music industry would argue that rap music is becoming the most popular genre of music. It is prevalent throughout movies, video games, TV shows and contains a whole culture, filled with subcultures within itself. People seem to either hate or love rap music, with some people calling it the music of “this generation.” But since the beginning, the roots of rap music have been cemented in something that is still prevalent today: giving a voice to those unheard.

How Kurt Cobain Changed My Life
When I was a six-year-old boy, I had a neighbor who had a lot of musical gear that his dad protected like it was part of his body. One day, we got into an argument and he told me he would shoot me with his dad's shotgun. I ran home screaming and crying for my mom and she spoke with his Mom and our friendship was ruined forever.

Those Henry Who People?
The scene is this: two teenagers driving two hours from Amherst Massachusetts to Cambridge. A two hour drive all to see our favorite band at the time, Motion City Soundtrack. We were hopped up on Monster and Twizzlers, blasting all our favorite compositions that we had crammed onto an 80 minute disc. Windows were down. A riveting game of Marry, Sex, Kill was the entertainment. We go to the venue and excitedly waited in line to get in. Our hands were promptly stamped upon entering, and we didn't care. We were there to let live music intoxicate us, and we didn't need anything else.

2000s Rock Playlist
Rock 'n' roll, my favorite genre of music. So beautiful and passionate, true to themselves rockstars generally live the life they want to or at least don’t handle being told what to do. As I’ve gotten older I’ve found myself listening more of old rock from the 70s, 80s, and sometimes the 90s but I’ve always had a passion for 2000s rock. The playlist I am going to make will consist of bands like Shinedown, Seether, Staind, Theory of a Deadman, 3 Doors Down, etc. I will also add a link to a YouTube playlist that has every song listed already on it. Ten songs will be in the playlist.

The Ghost of Jim Morrison
The year is 1974. Capital Records releases a single "Black Magic, White Magic" along with liner notes stating the band consists of Drummer X, Bassist Y, and Keyboardist Z, with vocals and music written by “The Phantom.” This album would soon cause a whirlwind of conspiracy theories which still circulate today. The album, Phantom’s Divine Comedy Pt 1 was released three years after the passing of Jim Morrison, although the music and vocals sounded so much like The Doors, it gives one chills. Jim Morrison died under mysterious circumstances, at the age of 27, of a heroin overdose in Le Marais, Paris. An autopsy was never conducted, causing the speculation of his death being a hoax to spread among his fans like a wild fire.

Dua Lipa
You could call her another artist that started out on YouTube doing covers to get noticed but you would be wrong. You could call her a model who turned into a songstress but you would be wrong. Yes, she is both those things but she is anything but average.

The 1975 have put out some pretty amazing songs over the past few years. With four EP’s, two albums, and a multitude of remixes and live performances, the British indie-rock band has a lot to choose from. So, here’s a list of my top ten songs from The 1975.

Adele
I recall the day I turned on the radio and Adele was there chasing pavements... As a 12-year-old, you don't understand the depth of an artist like that. Her debut album, '19', was amazing but I didn't grow to love it until I was older. But still, I was singing along to her amazing vocals. She won 2 Grammy's in 2009 for Best New Artist, one of the most highly acclaimed awards and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for 'Hometown Glory'.

The 'List: 'Flashdance' 35 Years Later
Hello, one and all. The 1980s were a time of relatively simple pleasures. We could still buy 45 PRM singles and 33-1/3 vinyl LPs. We now had MTV as our other music source. We didn't have the internet, YouTube, iPads, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest - hell, even the thought of sending mail electronically hadn't been realized. Nope. We still had cassettes, Walkmans, and video arcades with everything from Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Space Invaders etc. etc. It was a time of sweet, simple pleasures.
