7 Worst Albums of 2017. Top Story - January 2018.
There's no better time to reflect upon the worst music that 2017 had to offer than late into January, right? Right? Alright, I know I'm a little late to the party, but this is only because it took a little longer than usual to compile the ultimate list of worsts this time around. 2017 undoubtedly produced a lot of quality music, from Father John Misty's riveting masterpiece Pure Comedy, to Alvvays's glistening Antisocialites, to Paramore's refreshingly sharp After Laughter, it was a fantastic year for music.

Silver Linings Playlist: John Barry
Hello, and welcome back to Silver Linings where I honor the maligned, forgotten, and ignored. There are many elements to movies that largely tend to be ignored by the average viewer and only noticed by film students, professional critics, or total geeks. How many people do you know that would pay attention to the editing, for example? One of those elements that fade into the background for the average movie-watcher is the film's score. I consider that tragic since, when done right, the background music can be just as important as the actors onscreen. The right melodies can establish the setting, create the mood, and even tug at the audience's heartstrings. A great composer can make a great film a masterpiece and can even buoy a lame film. After all, John Williams' "Dual of the Fates" was one of the saving graces of The Phantom Menace.

Return of the Boy Bands
Most of the popular music that came out in the 90s and early to late 2000s was from boy bands. Some of the well-remembered boy bands are Boyz II Men, Backstreet Boys, N*SYNC, Linkin Park, O-town, New Kids on the Block, Jonas Brothers, and One Direction. After many of these boy bands ended their group, solo artists began to dominate the music industry. However, since as 2015, there have been a couple of boy groups that have been put together and now produce music that you may have never heard about: In Real Life, New Hope Club, Pretty Much, RoadTrip, and Why Don't We

Elvis Presley
Ladies, we all have to admit we all love Elvis Presley and we all think he was one of the most handsome men on Earth. But before he became the King of Rock, he was born Elvis Aaron Presley on January 8th, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi. He did have a twin brother named Jesse, but sadly, he died as a stillborn. Elvis was raised by loving parents. His family had a little bit of money and they moved a lot. He was devoted to both of his parents, especially his wonderful christian mother, Gladys. Elvis Presley and his family went to the Assembly of God Church—that is where Elvis got a strong influence for gospel music. On Elvis Presley's 11th birthday, his mother bought him his first guitar. A few years later, he won a talent show at Humes High School in Memphis, Tennessee. When he graduated high school, he worked so many jobs while working on his music career. His first demo record became known as Sun Studio. Then, Sam Phillips, a record label owner, took Elvis Presley under his wing to help him with his music career. Elvis finally began touring and got his first single called "That's All Right" in 1954.

Oliver Hazard, "Caesar Knows" Oliver Hazard, named after the American naval commander of the same name (of course) are a three-piece indie-folk band from the town of Waterlooville, Ohio. The area is the definition of small town, with a population of approximately 5,000 and a Wikipedia page that fits neatly into a single computer screen. However, the band themselves have a big future ahead of them.

Top 5 Tips for New Music Producers
Just as a preface to the article, I'd like to say this may not be applicable to every type of music producer. I'll be offering tips based on what I have learned personally and hope they will help as many people as possible. This also only serves as some tips I personally know, not a complete or exhaustive cheat sheet. This guide also assumes you already own a DAW.
