70s music
The 1970s were all about sex, drugs and rock and roll; Beat welcomes you to our Disco Inferno.
Revamping My Teenage Record Collection
Introduction I was born in 1957 and as a teenager built up a vinyl and cassette collection. I knew that I had to move to CD when my daughter Juliet showed me what she could to a vinyl record with the player needle, though not a dangerous as what Kirsty did with metal magazine separators and a mains plug.

A Plagiaristic Poetic Krautrock Playlist
Introduction I thought I would create a Krautrock-based plagiaristic poem based on bands, albums and songs and follow it with a playlist of the songs chosen in the poem. Here are some of my previous pieces that reference the genre:

A Harvest Playlist

Benefits Of The Availability Of Digital Music
Introduction This has been partly influenced by Julian Cope's "Copendium" that I am reading at the moment and it is introducing me to a lot of music that I was unaware of, having said that I completely missed AC/DC although I sang several of their songs when I played with Spoon and The Abominable Showmen. You can see me here much fatter singing "Wuthering Heights" (Kate Bush) and Highway To Hell (AC/DC)

Three Times the Charm
I was going to start a series about songs that have numbers in the title. However, as much as there are plenty of songs with one in the title I am not so sure about the other songs and other numbers. I have been successful with songs with two in the title and theyβre followed by songs with three in the title. This is where I end this series. The link to the articles will be added below.

"Aubrey" β Bread (1972)
Here is a song that captures my heart. It makes me sway, mindless to everything except the words and its daydream. In less than four minutes, the pure magic of David Gates is completely encompassed. Is it rare to find a song whose music perfectly matches its lyrics, whose melody is not overly vain, nor underdeveloped? Every particle of this songβs light is warm and dances like the manifestation of art itself.

Takes Two to Tango
I was going to start a series about songs that have numbers in the title. However, as much as there are plenty of songs with one in the title I am not so sure about the other songs and other numbers. So let me begin with one and see how things progress. Here I am progressing. I have been successful with songs with two in the title and theyβll be followed by songs with three in the title. After it is possible I will gather some popular songs with different numbers in the titles to finish this series. The link to the first article will be added below.
