Silver Linings Playlist: John Barry
Hello, and welcome back to Silver Linings where I honor the maligned, forgotten, and ignored. There are many elements to movies that largely tend to be ignored by the average viewer and only noticed by film students, professional critics, or total geeks. How many people do you know that would pay attention to the editing, for example? One of those elements that fade into the background for the average movie-watcher is the film's score. I consider that tragic since, when done right, the background music can be just as important as the actors onscreen. The right melodies can establish the setting, create the mood, and even tug at the audience's heartstrings. A great composer can make a great film a masterpiece and can even buoy a lame film. After all, John Williams' "Dual of the Fates" was one of the saving graces of The Phantom Menace.

The 'List: Heavy Metal
Hello, one and all. So, here it is. The first official heavy metal 'list compiled by me and by good friend Calvin (Quaker Oates) Cherry. This one was a bit long to compile on account that we both love the genre and wanted to come up with the absolute perfect 'list. Yes, we here at... I'm not sure what we call ourselves; except Hall & Oates 0.2? We want to give you the best balls-out metal experience! Anyways, on to the 'list, but first, a history lesson.

Bad Bentley January 2018 Mix
Ok, so last January I did a New Year's Eve mix while I was in Bali on tour with my other half. Beat had just launched and I swore I would do a mix every month. It was one of my precious New Year's resolutions, it lasted two and a half months.... I add the half because I DID do a March mix but it was for a completely different reason, so it didn't count. BAD Bentley.

The 'List: Best of New Wave. Top Story - January 2018.
Hello, one and all. Well, we're a couple of weeks into the new year and while we've been sort of stuck in the mostly 1970s rut, me and my co-conspirator in this experiment: Calvin (he'll always be Oates to me) Cherry have decided to shake things up and add more diverse 'lists rather than focus on singular artists. But, fret not; many artists from various decades will get their just due 'lists: Fleetwood Mac, Commodores, Billy Joel, Madonna, Michael Jackson and Prince are all due for 'lists this year, so hang tight, and they are being drafted as we speak.

My Top Tracks of 2017. Top Story - January 2018.
My favourites of the past year, in no particular order... and yes I included myself in there too.... Mysterious singer, songwriter, and producer that names herself after 'God' and hides her face? Yes please. Elohim was my special find of 2017, an eclectic sound so unique to her alone. She recently finished touring with Alison Wonderland, this is her latest offering. Enjoy.
