Over the years, he released both comedy albums (with songs) and more serious musical albums, mostly in the R&B / funk / pop / reggae genres. Some he lend his singing vocals in films he starred in. However, music critics weren't fond of Murphy's tune and he should stick with his comedy career.

The one who swings between wanting to hold someone close and wanting to disappear into the next room, the next idea, the next mood.
