short story
Dame Fall O'Tumn
Another restless night, looking for him again. It’s been happening more often lately. And he stays away much longer. He just melts away into the darkness, invisible, and the march toward winter is accelerating. Soon, I will be sleeping through the worst of it. But he doesn’t sleep that way.

The Ronnie Belle
They called him Capt. Ron, a crusty old salt. He served in the Merchant marine after coming out of the Maritime Academy, class of '63. For over 30 years Capt. Ron has seen practically every port there is. Now, in the twilight of his years he still yearns for one last great voyage. A voyage of self discovery as he called it. To him it is part of who he is. The calling of the sea has always beckoned him back.

The Day Heaven Fell
by: Dennis R. Humphreys The town of Winnemucca is in Northern Nevada and is surrounded by beautiful mountains. Part of the year beginning in October the peaks are typically snow capped. Mornings and evenings display colors never imagined, even in pictures or paintings. Their color changes, as the sun moves, minute by minute. In fact if you have to run to get your camera to record an unbelievable scene, you're probably already too late to capture it when you get back.

Grizzly Encounter
My ex and I were out for an afternoon hike up Stony Creek, a place we had never been before in all our exploring of the spectacular trails around our home. We had the truck with us and we had been going to just 4x4 it. However, we ran into some eroding, gravel cut banks and other sketchy features of the trail and we decided that it was best to park the vehicle and continue on foot.

The Garden
As I walked into the forest, there was a stone doorway. It was very elaborately made and looked as if you touched it, it would fall apart. As I walked through this beautiful doorway, I saw and smelled the most beautiful world imaginable! I smelled Honeysuckle, Lilac, Lavender, Roses and Gardenia. It was heavenly! And they were the most brilliantly, vivid colors I had ever seen! The sun was shining bright and there was a slight cool breeze carrying the scents to me. I bent over to smell a beautiful, deep red rose and it seemed to shy away from me, as if scared. "What' wrong", I asked. The little rose raised it's head a little and replied, "I was afraid that you wanted to pick me. And then I would die"

Shiver
Tingles and sparks run across my skin. Tickles and coarseness between my clothes and skin. I vibrate and shake, I can feel every cell alight with movement, but no one else can see it. My hair stands on end, my skin bumped and raised, as though the millimeters of air will provide substantial insulation.

Drinking Air
My local Priceline pharmacy has started selling bottles of Chinese air. I’m late to this trend. I pull up at Castle Towers one July morning, and a hundred or more people have congregated outside the doors to Priceline and onto Terminus Street. They are huddled together like a colony of penguins, albeit with coats and masks. A large pullup banner at the entrance marks the event.
