Why We Shouldn't Kill The Mockingbird
Recently, the news broke that a Mississippi school has removed Harper Lee's classic, To Kill A Mockingbird, from its 8th-grade reading list. The reason? Its use of sensitive language is making students "uncomfortable."If I were to sum up my thoughts up on this topic in a single word, it would be "deplorable," especially in the current social climate that is sweeping what seems like the entirety of the western world.

As a kid I was always caught drawing in class. Not just out of boredom necessarily, it's just that my mind was always elsewhere, it seemed; to this day my mind is still the same, quite honestly, no matter what I could not focus in class at all. I don't have an attention disorder, though it was assumed that I did, all it was was that I wanted to make art and express myself.

Understanding Students
In today's society, a student is considered, by some, nothing more than a young adult trying to elongate the idea of childhood by staying in education and avoiding as much responsibility as they can. Wrong! I, myself, am a student, and most of us students are trying harder than most adults have to nowadays. Go to lectures, get a job, look after yourself, eat properly, and my personal favorite, stop going out so much. We've all been told throughout school that going to university will help make us more employable. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure it's true, but I will let you know when I get the job I spent three years and a heck of a lot of money working for. Currently, I don't really have a job, and the opportunities are so bountiful. I mean I get the amazing choice of where I want to do bar work if it ever takes my fancy. Lucky me.

Helping Your Special Needs Child
If your child has special needs then there are many ways to help them learn, on top of what their school will do. This applies whether it’s a mainstream school, a special school, or a combination of teaching methods. The school will appreciate any help it can have, as will your child. My kids both have special needs to I speak from experience, I also volunteered at their special schools. All too often parents and carers left the education to the schools and did little or nothing themselves for their children.

That Time I Went to Law School
I was always that person who insisted that you should pick a career you love; who cares how much or how little money it makes? I constantly told my parents and everyone who would listen that I wanted a career that I was in love with—one that didn't feel like work. I had big dreams of being a musician or a museum curator. Those were my passions, and, by God, I was going to get a job doing one of those two things and I didn't care how difficult it was.

According to savethestudent.org, an estimated 84% of the UK’s student’s worry about money troubles and making ends meet throughout the year. Next to rent, food is the highest cost a student has to factor into their budget during term time, leaving some students unable to afford food at all, because their rent has swallowed up nearly all of their loan. With 61% of student’s claiming their diet is suffering and a whopping 50% of those student’s saying its affecting their mental health, leading to a drop in grades, I think it’s high time we did something about it!
