With love, even poverty is warm as spring
Where do you put your suffering? In a slum in India, there were a pair of very unfortunate little brothers. Their mother died when they were very young, and their father spent his days either taking drugs or getting drunk, not caring about the brothers' lives. Later, to raise money for drugs, the father was sent to prison for stealing.

Education: We Need Change Not Just a Band-Aid
For years the public education system has failed to keep students testing at grade level. Let’s be serious these tests are really of the most basic level in most cases and kids aren’t making the cut. It’s not because teachers are teaching and it’s not because kids aren’t in school it’s because the education system has been putting Band-Aids on the problems within education for so long you can’t even see the basic design anymore. These Band-Aids have been layered upon other Band-Aids making it a rickety structure that’s just waiting to tumble over. To me the answer is simple, tear down the structure and rebuild with what works.

Education: Schools What’s the Truth About Expectations?
2020 and 2021 have been challenging years in education for students, parents, and teachers alike. Parents want their student’s mental health, socialization, and in person education to aid them in growing into adulthood. Students want socialization, some appreciate the learning, but most really just want to see other kids and be with their peers. Teachers for the most part want to educate the whole child and see the buds of knowledge begin to grow from their facilitation. Unfortunately each year this has become more and more difficult for everyone. Another unfortunate fact is that parents have no real idea what is going on in schools. It is often sheltered from the media. Teachers are told not to report to the media or tell parents the full story for fear of violating privacy acts. Teachers are bullied by administrators or district leaders to not report or they will be pushed out of their field or have legal charges brought against them.

When What You Do Seems Like it Doesn't Matter
I have been an educator for six years. I started in 2016 as an 8th grade math teacher in Fort Lauderdale, FL. I loved my first year as a teacher. I mean really loved it! I was at a school where a huge population of the students were black or Haitian. I really clicked with the Haitians because I was born in Haiti. I got to speak the language with them and build relationship. I had it in my head that I can do this for the rest of my life. Fast forward to 2020 and everything changed. I moved to Charlotte, NC and I am at a school that I wanted to quit so badly. Then the pandemic hit like nothing before and for the first time I contemplated "is being a teacher the right career choice for me?" I remember when we had to go virtual and I thought to myself "it shouldn't be that hard". Boy was I wrong! The lack of accountability from students and parents made it hard to do my job. So many days I wanted to quit because not only was teaching online hard, but I got to witness others bad mouthing teachers because we were able to work from home. I guess what people did not see or understand was the trial teaching online was. Let me share some with you:

Praising A Middle School Teacher
My children were in the same classroom over the pandemic to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. They placed siblings in the same family together within the school system. Their teacher was excellent, and he taught my children for two whole years; while raising toddlers simultaneously! He is a great father and an excellent, articulate teacher!

A letter to my kids principal: Praising Greatness!
Hello Mr. Principal, It was always lovely to see you at school with your children, as they helped you with fundraisers and other things within the school. Mr. Principal, you are an excellent example, and from what we know of your wife, so is she.
