Tasty Ways to Eat More Fiber
The exact amount of fiber needed in one’s diet is in dispute, but the general recommendation is that people need 14g for every 1,000 calories. Women tend to need less fiber as they age. Getting enough fiber benefits the digestive system by helping to keep the intestines cleared and the bad bacteria eliminated.

Days After Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving was a great day for feasting and family time. It’s a day to put away your differences and be thankful for what you have like your family and friends as well as your health and the food on your table. Amidst all of this, I was on the search for vegan-friendly options available at this event in honor of all the vegan otakus out there.

Seasonal and Local
It's been a long time, a long time coming, but I know a change is gonna come, oh yes it will! Sam Cooke does it far better than me, but its the sentiment that counts! Maybe it's my age, maybe it's the words of a nutritionist I once spoke to, or maybe it's that we are all needing to know that someone out there cares for what we consume, that has driven me to becoming an advocate for seasonal and local goods. The nutritionist put it in simple terms, "we live in a primarily damp and cold northern hemisphere country. In the autumn and winter you need hearty root veggies and iron rich greens. Why are you putting cold leaves and tomatoes inside your body!" I'd never considered it. My local supermarkets stock pineapples all year round along with the asparagus, coconuts, tomatoes, peppers, aubergines and, well, basically anything that a large chain are prepared to ship from one side of the world to the other. We have become used to this affluence of veggies, and I am not advocating the banning of the pineapple in winter. What I do want, however, is for all of us to take our time to consider what it is we need, what it is we can do to support the local economy, our economy for goodness sake, and what is good for us.

The Truth About Soya
Hello everyone, I hope you’re well. So, I bet you’re all thinking that soya (you know that stuff that is in a lot of what we eat and comes from a bean) is really good for you, right? If you’re dairy intolerant, or vegan, you probably drink soya milk as one of your alternatives, right? If you’re vegetarian or vegan you also probably eat a lot of tofu, which is full of soya, right? Or fake meats made of soya? Well, unfortunately, you are wrong. Shocking, right? A bean not actually being good for you. Especially a bean which has a place in a lot of the food and drink we consume, including a lot of chocolates, shop brought breads, doughnuts, cakes, biscuits, SOY SAUCE, etc. It is in a lot of food that we consume and it is not doing us any favours.

Riddle and Finns, Brighton, UK
For fans of seafood, a trip to Riddle and Finns is like worshipping at the altar of culinary genius. What is it like? Smart understated decor with a flavour of sparklingly clean old-fashioned fishmonger's mixed with subtle Art Deco glamour, Riddle and Finns feels immediately welcoming. The bustle of The Lanes just outside give a pleasant, busy atmosphere despite being fairly quiet when I visited. There's also a street counter where you can order food and see the chefs at work in the kitchen, perfect for a bit of culinary theatre.
