Basics of Baking
Welcome back! To pick up from where I left off, I gave you a wonderful yet simple cake recipe that can be modified in so many ways! Add a shot of strong coffee; coffee cake. Take out a little of the flour (or sugar) and add in some cocoa powder; chocolate cake! It's honestly an endless list where the only thing stopping you is what you can think of! Pour in into a deep baking tray and you have a tray bake (but not a brownie and I'll explain the difference later!)

Spice of the Week
Welcome to Spice of the Week! Turmeric is becoming a very popular spice among the culinary and health nut world. People praise its health properties it possesses, including inflammation treatment, diabetes regulation, mood regulation, the ability to focus, and treat alcoholism! Though there has not been expert study that this miracle root actually has these properties, many people swear by it from personal experience from family traditions or just being a sheep and doing what the internet tells us. (It’s okay, we are all guilty of this.)

Turkey Spaghetti
Hello my little lovelies! So this recipe I have is a recipe that I developed back when I was in college when I started to really cook. Now a few things have changed since then since I started changing my eating habits. This is a favorite of my husband's and is something I will probably be cooking the next time he is home. Now I don't fix any garlic bread with this simply because there is already a lot of carbs in it with the pasta. You can use whatever type of pasta you would like for this recipe, I just used penne pasta because that was all I had in my pantry. Fettuccine works great with this recipe as well as does regular spaghetti but again the choice is yours.

Soda Pop Cakes
Did you know that you can make an awesome, moist, and delectable cake using only two ingredients? And, what if I told you that one of those ingredients is soda pop? That’s right... carbonated soda and a box of cake mix. The soda replaces the water, eggs, and oil. Plus, using soda as the second ingredient actually reduces the fat and calories that are a bit part of a regular cake. You can also use diet soda to even further reduce the calories!

Vegan Puerto Rican Pastelillos Recipe
When it came to making pastelillos as a kid, I was always on dough duty. Covered in flour and gaining muscle mass by the minute, I rolled out what must be thousands of discos over the course of my lifetime. I loved every minute of it though. The process of making pastelillos was a fun bonding time in the kitchen for whoever was involved. I love when food brings people together and this vegan version allows me to continue doing so.

Coffee, Culture, & Countries—Part 1
Growing up in Canada, Tim Hortons is the place to go. (This will be debated now and yes I know it’s not the same, but we, as Canadians, are known for it). From the red paper cups, to the simple brown bags that our food is given in, it has always been a stop I make before I leave the country and immediately upon arrival. When I see that sign, I become nostalgic of home and all the great qualities about it. From the hockey name to the winter time designs it is hard to miss a spot as iconic as Tim Hortons. On a personal note it reminds me of friends, family, new opportunities and deep conversations. It was a place to bond, to think and most of all relax. To this day, the advertisements express community, a Canadian identity, one that is united by the cold winters but warm coffee and smiles of familiar faces. It’s the 5 AM drives to practice with your parents, the spot to meet up with friends when you first learned to drive. The place to both start and finish a day with the people you care about. It is not surprising when you know the origins of the chain. Tim Horton was a player for the Toronto Maple Leafs. In a weird way, it symbolizes the stereotype for Canadians as winter and hockey being at our core. But for me, no matter where I am in the world it will always remind me of the Great White North.

Office Potluck 'Chopped' Edition
Who else is tired of the veggie tray or the bag of chips at your office potluck? I know I am. Here where I work, we have at least one potluck a month, maybe more depending on birthdays! So, foods brought can get quite mundane. I'm a big lover of cooking. I watch the show Chopped as often as possible. And therefore I came up with the next best thing besides being able to compete on the show yourself:
