The Empty Glass
I remember it like it was yesterday. I was standing right there next to my husband, when all of a sudden, in the middle of a sentence, he disappeared. I remember the sound of the glass hitting the pebbles, and of them moving, knocking together as it settled.

Say Goodbye To Hollywood
LOS ANGELES (AP)- History was made today, as a controversial ruling by the California Supreme Court appears to set a major precedent for dissolving the boundaries between fantasy and reality in public discourse across the world, as well as providing the gravest threat to the entire entertainment industry it may ever be forced to face.

Meat, Walking. First Place in 2023 Vocal Writing Awards - Fantasy Fiction. Content Warning.
It's dirty. Its skin and meagre cloth coverings are tattered and grubby, although there's a clean salt trail on each cheek. It's given up crying now, though, and before long those marks will fill in with grime. The corners of its mouth are drawn down, and its eyes are frightened.

Liminal: occupying a position at, or on both sides of, a boundary or threshold. OED
Bonbons in a glass jar tempt me; a jar of chopped-up rainbow. I swirl a yellow one around my mouth, expect the zing and tang of fresh lemon. I smell them on his clothes; just a hint, through wood-spice aftershave and whiskey.

Death and the Tuna Baguette. Content Warning.
This story was written in response to a prompt by L.C. Schäfer in their story "Moonlighting": I've decided, in tribute, to keep the picture theme food motivated as it seemed to lend itself to what happens to poor Death in my story.

The Undulating Field. Content Warning.
This is for Mother Combs "Twisted Endings" Challenge that you can read about here The Undulating Field I had a restless night and kept getting up for some reason, but I don't know why. Eventually, I decided I might as well just get up, so went to the bathroom shaved, cleaned my teeth, took a shower, took drugs and got dressed. It was six in the morning, and I was on holiday, so there was no need for me to be up at this unearthly hour, but I was and went to the kitchen and made coffee, instant, with oat milk in the microwave.
