90s Fashion Would Make Harry Potter So Much Better
Back in January, the internet was abuzz with rumors about a Harry Potter TV series that was allegedly supposed to be released on HBO Max. As a potterhead myself, I couldn't contain my excitement and started imagining how much more accurate a TV series could be than the movies. But it also got me thinking how much more accurate the books could have been.

Best Picture Winner 'The Artist' 10 Years Later
In the 10 years since the release of The Artist and it's eventual Best Picture win at the Academy Awards in 2012, the film's lasting legacy is that a lot of people really liked the dog in the movie. Beyond that, it’s the hatred many hold for this admittedly lovely movie because it should not have won Best Picture. Now, most people likely could not name one of the several nominated movies that lost out and were more deserving than The Artist but I am not here to call anyone out or say that anyone is wrong for thinking The Artist as less than Best Picture caliber.

Sorting "The Voice" Coaches/Judges Into Hogwarts Houses
2021 is a big year for The Voice as it celebrates its twentieth season on TV and its tenth year in existence. Since its inception in 2011, it has brought many memorable moments to households all across the U.S. As a singing competition show, it's always fun to watch the performances and hear the contestants' stories and maybe even play along by building our own virtual teams using the Voice app. But the thing that has made the show last as long as it has, isn't just the amazing new talents that are discovered, but also the banter and friendly competition between the celebrity coaches. And this season, the commentary and arguments from the judges' panel have been even more entertaining than usual.

Book Review: "The Zhivago Affair" by Peter Finn and Petra Couvée
“The roof over the whole of Russia has been torn off.” The quotation at the beginning of chapter one, just after a powerful prologue, is something of pure beauty as it puts the reader within the time from of Boris Pasternak as a young man growing up in the midst of the Russian Revolution. The writer of great books would go on to bear witness to some of the most challenging times in Russian History including the regimes of Vladimir Lenin and Joseph Stalin. This book covers his persecution at the hands of the Soviets due to the book that most consider to be the most dangerous book ever written in 20th century Russia - “Dr. Zhivago”.

The Legacy of 'Bridesmaids' 10 Years Later
It’s hard to believe but Bridesmaids arrived in theaters a decade ago. Released on April 28th, 2011, the raunchy, female-centric comedy was an immediate phenomenon. The film shot Kristen Wiig to immediate stardom and turned director Paul Feig into an A-list, in-demand, talent behind the camera. 10 years later, Bridesmaids remains a cultural touchstone. Kristen Wiig is now starring in blockbuster comic book movies, Wonder Woman 1984, and co-star Melissa McCarthy has become one of the biggest stars in the world.

One Direction Songs as Books
Have you ever been listening to One Direction and thought, “gosh, I would love to read a book that has the same vibe as this song?” Probably not. But, on the off chance that you have, the list below is for you. I can’t exactly explain my methodology here—I just took the idea and ran with it. Whether you're a directioner or not, I recommend all the books on this list.

Why Disney Live-Action Reboots Just Don’t Work
If you’re like me, you have a spot soft in your heart for both animated TV and movies. You grew up watching 90s 2D Disney films and Nickelodeon on TV. It was a great era! There was no separation of the real and the fantastical and everything was a fairytale. Not to say that these movies and shows did not provide life lessons, but they lacked the gritty realism that went with the movies your parents were watching at the time. They were colorful and bright, instilling in you a sense of happiness and awe.

Streaming services are making it easier than ever to learn about our planet. Earth month is a perfect opportunity to take a closer look at the state of our world and encourage our families to join in. Children tend to be more receptive to education in a fun format so don’t forget to bring the whole family in on your earth-ucation! I have marked any shows below that are not child-friendly or should be reviewed to determine if the content is appropriate for your child.
