Book Review: "The Complete Ghost Stories" by M.R James
M.R James is perhaps one of my favourite short story writers purely for the fact that many of them are pretty bloody terrifying and have scared the pants off me in the past. There are certain stories in here where I have said to myself that I would never read again because when I read them the first time in my teens, I was really quite frightened. However, I have read them since then and I can confirm: still frightened. I'm actually working on a list of the scariest stuff I've ever read and if it has come out already by the time this review is released then I've done well there. If it hasn't, well then you might have to wait a bit longer for it.

Villainess Review: Dawn St. Claire (B.L. Stryker)
The heartbreaking hits keep on coming this year. On Sunday, August 3, 2025, we lost an iconic name in TV and in cinema, as Loni Anderson passed away at the age of 79. Anderson did so much in TV and film, with her greatest claim to fame being the hit sitcom, WKRP in Cincinnati, where she shined as bombshell Jennifer Marlowe--a role she briefly reprised years later in The New WKRP in Cincinnati. Anderson appeared on several different TV series such as Police Woman, Barnaby Jones, Three's Company, Sabrina the Teenage Witch (as one of Sabrina's country witch cousins), and V.I.P. (as the mother of Pamela Anderson's central character).

How Will The MCU Prevent Franklin Richards From Becoming Overpowered?
Fantastic Four: First Steps has finally hit theatres. The film has been receiving mostly positive reviews, with fans and critics praising the visuals, and the chemistry between the four leads. Aside from bypassing the team's origin story, one of the biggest diversions First Steps makes from previous Fantastic Four adaptations is the introduction of Franklin Richards, the firstborn child of Reed Richards and Sue Storm, aka Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman.

Pauline Kael
Sometimes I pretend to be a 1940s screenwriter. My imaginary ego goes on a trip to tell people about the magic of cinema and the hard work that produces a movie. How you need a writer’s room, money, star power and a way to hoodwink studio executives, because all they care about is money and I’m trying to make art. In 1940s Hollywood, I’m trying to establish cinema as an American artform, with carefully crafted plots, new characters, and risk-taking directors.

Malcolm, Michael, and Terry
It's been very hard to be a member of what we call Generation X this week. The pain is too big to handle alone. My title might be a little confusing, so I will get that out of the way first: Malcolm-Jamal Warner, John Michael "Ozzy" Osbourne, and Terry Gene Bollea ("Hulk Hogan") have all passed away, and my mind is in many different places as I type this out. The summer has been hot, financially unrewarding, full of news of insanity, violence and disappointment. It all seems so familiar. And to read about these losses and to have to go on with my day just seems ridiculous.

Book Review: "On the Calculation of Volume: 1" by Solvej Balle
I have been seeing this book everywhere and charging what Kindle was charging for it, it felt like I would never actually get to read the thing. Of course, until one day where the price came shooting down and 'Best Price in 30 Days' read '£0.99' and I was very quick to buy. With the language being a mix of minimalism and philosophy, the themes being that of entropy and realisation, this book definitely deserves all the hype it has been getting. If I am lucky I might be able to read the second part. I just have to hope that it is still on sale.

Not a Bunch of Film Reviews
When I write a short story, I would like the story to have details that linger with the reader. That’s the goal – to write so that traces of the tale stay alive after the reading. Like a good meal leaves a taste in the mouth. Or how a song echoes through memories.
