The Night I Met a Monster
I carried three things with me that day. First, an iron coin. I wasn’t sure what the year was, or even the country of origin. The faces were worn nearly flat and there was only a hint of ridges on its circumference. I was told to punch a hole in it and wear it around my neck. And, so I did with a leather thong.

Watcher Chapter 3
The very next day Adley sat up in bed and rubbed her eyes sleepily. Her dreams were unbearable but she managed to sleep as much as she can. Stretching, she slid out of bed and slipped on her pink fuzzy slippers. The air felt a bit thick, as if someone was watching her. Perhaps misfortunes didn't happen in the day light. Maybe she was safe?

The Ballad of Eric Once Bitten
The Ballad of Eric Once Bitten We walked the same barren roads we’d been walking for years. The road and the few houses still standing never regained any of the colors they once had. The world still carried the dull grey tones from the war. It touched everything around us. Even the trees bore the scars of a more violent time.

Watcher Chapter 2
As much as she dreaded sleeping in the house, or in the room her father happily chose for her, Adley made her bed nervously. Every creaking sound or groaning sound the house made, caused Adley to jump out of her skin. She hated walking on egg shells, never knowing if when she turned around, something would be there... staring at her.

Awaken the Hydrogen Bomb
Aster's stomach coiled into an unbreakable twist of soft tissue and spilling acid. His weight broke the decaying leaves underneath his trembling feet. His legs were struggling to keep him on the right path, almost like the cartilage in his knees were sliding around in between his bones.

One Simple Mistake Cost This Horror Classic Everything
If you live on Earth and you haven’t spent your life under a rock, chances are high that you’ve heard of the movie Night of the Living Dead. The original movie, released in 1968, was ultra successful, although also extremely controversial for that time. Night of the Living Dead was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry as a film deemed “culturally, historically or aesthetically significant,” however it was also greatly criticized. Variety labeled Night of the Living Dead an “unrelieved orgy of sadism” and questioned the “integrity and social responsibility of its Pittsburgh-based makers.” Now, being from Pittsburgh and knowing “Johnny” personally, reading statements like that makes me smile a little.

Princess the Doll
I was staying at Nanny and Grandad's house. I was there with my sister Ros; we always stayed in a room together. Our beds faced each other and were on the left side of the room. On the right side, there was darkness. You could only just see a shelving unit covered in dolls; they looked like Mickey Mouse with elongated ears. There were other dolls there too. They were pandas.

A Trilogy of Yorkshire Witches
As a child Halloween wasn’t the big commercial enterprise that it is now; I along with my sister and brother used to dress up in the obligatory home-made witch or wizard costume which comprised of a bin-bag gown, newspaper hat (coloured in with black paint), and my mother's papier-mâché warts and hook nose. Once dressed we would scour the estate knocking on every door “trick or treating,” returning home some hours later with bags full of sweets. Then we would sit in our bedrooms late into the night scaring the hell out of each other with various ghost stories, often going to bed terrified having convinced ourselves that every shadow or noise in the dark was supernatural. My favourite stories were always the ones about witches, and today they are still my favourites.

Where the Souls Go
Where the Souls Go Between the bridge of life and death, do you ever wonder what lies on the other side? Do you ever wonder where your soul goes? The town of Lunar is best known for their forest, the Forest of Souls. It is said, that when a full moon hangs in the night sky, lost souls rise above to walk the Earth. Most have said they have heard sorrowful cries for help at night. Legend has it that the last soul to walk the earth belonged to a maiden named Lucy. Lucy had lived in the town of Lunar all her life. When Lucy was a child, her mother warned her not to go near the forest on a full moon. Lucy never stepped foot within the forest since then.

Mythical Monsters
When you were little, did your parents ever tell you stories where you wondered, "is that true?" For me it was the tale of Sirens; their voices being heard on abandoned shores when all else is quiet. The woman who told me the story told me with such conviction. Years ago, on her travels to the edge of the country, was a beach unlike any other. Even the ocean itself wasn't making a lot of noise that day. The fog was thick and with her ankles submerged in water, the song began. It was quiet, alluring, but also terrifying. Quickly she left, too afraid to investigate. It didn't sound close by and even though the melody was inviting, she felt it in her soul that she needed to get away.
