Get into the Halloween spirit; all about trick or treating, spooky costumes, Halloween decorations and haunted houses for October 31st and all year round.
October 5th
Ever since I decided to move into a cabin in the mountains, I have had writer's block. I thought that the mountains would give me more motivation for my book, but so far, nothing. My publisher asked me to write something scary this time, so I had the idea to write about the sightings of this "Skinwalker". He was hesitant at first, but when I told him that I would travel and research about Skinwalkers first, he was on board for it. So, I did my research, and found out that there were sightings in Utah, in the mountains. I rented a cabin near the sightings by Skinwalker Ranch, at least that is what the locals call it. When I got to the cabin, I settled down and got my laptop set up to start the new book. Of course, though, not a single thought to start. So, I went out into the woods surrounding the cabin, looked around the area and, of course, nothing. I went to grab my camera thinking I might be able to catch evidence or clues, but like always, I found nothing. Then it hit me, remembering all the research I did, all the sightings that I found online, happened at nighttime. It was only three in the afternoon, so I went back to my cabin and waited for nightfall. I Thought to myself that I would take a nap until the moon rises. I sat on the couch drifting off to the comfort of the fireplace. I got woken up by an unrealistic shriek that almost sounded like an animal, but not like any animal I’ve ever heard. I noticed that it was around 10pm, and pitch black out, so this is the perfect time to go out and see what I can find. I grabbed my video camera, and set out on this dark skinwalking adventure. I probably walked about two miles trying to catch anything on my video camera, but I haven’t seen or heard anything. It’s already about midnight, so I decided to go back to the cabin. On my way back, I heard something rustling in the bushes next to me. Probably just a rabbit or a raccoon. I kept walking back towards the cabin while looking at the video footage to see if I caught anything at all. I heard the rustling again, but it sounded much closer. Thought nothing of it. I was able to see the chimney of the cabin, almost there. Then I heard right behind me, it sounded like rustling bushes. It sounded big. I decided to start video recording again, even though it sounded big, I slowly turned around. What I saw, in the bushes, glowing eyes. Whatever this thing is, it was hunched over. It started to stand up like a human being, I froze in place. When it started yelling, I ran, almost fumbling over my own feet. If I can just get to the cabin, I’ll be safe. I hear it behind me, chasing me. Feel like I’m going to collapse. I’m almost at the door, if I can just make it to the porch…

The Fate of the Final Girl
With Jamie Lee Curtis taking her final bow as the iconic Laurie Strode in the closure of the long-running Halloween franchise, I decided that it would be a good time to take “Final Girls” by Riley Sager off of the shelf as a tribute to the woman who revolutionized and embodied the essence of strength and resiliency that it takes to be a final girl. Often attributed as the first real example of a final girl, Curtis’ character Laurie Strode was the sole survivor of Michael Myers’ attacks that fateful Halloween night, but Curtis’ character highlighted the emotional, physical, and psychological burden that can come from being a survivor.

Who's finger is this?
After giving the package a shake, it was clearly larger than it needed to be. I can hear the package’s contents fly around the box in its paper wrapping. The drone that dropped it off was a large one, probably able to lift packages up to 5 pounds. The box is seven inches in all dimensions, and maybe a couple ounces. I am willing to bet that someone in the mail room didn’t even pick the box up before they attached it to a drone for delivery. I grab a razor blade.

Priest Reese: Vampire Hunter
We drove up the snowy, winding road towards the cozy A-frame cabin. My German Shepherd Helsing was absently gnawing on something in the passenger seat but I was too busy keeping the truck from sliding off the road to give it much attention. We went left at the fork in the road knowing full well that the cabin was to the right and drove a little ways down so we'd be out of sight. It wasn't until I had stopped at a pass overlooking the cabin that I noticed what Helsing had between his teeth and paws. It was one of my wooden stakes which he loved to whittle down to a nub. He let a low, whimpering growl as I took it away from him.

The final act of Halloween features Laurie Strode.
The purpose of the following review of David Gordon Green's Halloween Ends is to allay some of the concerns that moviegoers typically have when going to a production that claims to be the final chapter in a narrative as great and vital as Halloween. You should be aware that the Halloween trilogy, which consists of Halloween (2018), Halloween Kills (2021), and Halloween Ends (2022), is indeed coming to an end before you go to the cinema. The movie studio is therefore permitted to produce another spin-off, but it must take place after the trilogy. The most significant horror film narrative in history must be concluded, which is a huge undertaking for David Gordon Green. Some people will like this finale, as expected, while others won't.

Appalachian Grandpa: The Last Trick of Treater
Grandpa was putting away the candy after I returned from walking Glimmer back into the woods. If Grandpa thought anything about my time with his old flame, he didn't say anything. I hadn't exactly set out to begin a relationship with one of the creatures Grandpa was always warning me about in the woods, but it was something that had just sort of happened. The two of us tried not to rub it in his face, and I got the feeling that it made Glimmer a little uncomfortable if she thought too much about it.

Horrors of the Deep
I’m a marine biologist, and I work in the Hatinggabi aquarium, the world’s first aquarium capable of simulating conditions in the midnight zone. For those who don’t know, the ocean is organized in three sections: the daylight zone, the twilight zone, and the midnight zone. The daylight zone is at the top, it receives the most light and is the easiest to study. Below that is the twilight zone; with significantly less light and more pressure, it requires specialized equipment to explore.
