"Demonic Baby Found Lurking in Abandoned Hospital"
The sound of the baby's cries echoed through the empty corridors of the abandoned hospital. As I crept through the darkness, I couldn't shake the feeling that I was being watched. Suddenly, I heard a faint giggle coming from the nursery.

The Yule Lads Diarys- Pt 1- December 12th- Stekkjarstaur
That night was the first night, and the first time I'd ever even seen one of them. My brother and I were out in the sheep shed, warm amongst the flock. Sheep are pretty important out here, and at Frjósöm Skref, they make up most of their livelihood. The farm has cows, two of them, and we were making strides with what Olf called "Hot House Growing", but the sheepfold was still their biggest priority. Iceland doesn't really have any predators, but sheep are not the smartest creatures. My presence here was to make sure that one of them didn't wander off in the middle of the night and freeze to death out in the cold. Sheep seemed to be continually looking for a way to accomplish this; a hole in the wall or a separation between the dirt floor and wall to scoot under. That's why they needed to be watched.

My horror story
I'm a psychiatric nurse and early in my career, I worked at a residential mental health facility. One of our residents was an elective mute, which means that he didn't/wouldn't/couldn't talk, but there were no medical reasons as to why. He had spoken earlier in his life and in fact seemed quite normal back then, with the exception of being close to seven feet tall. He'd been raised in the Deep South and joined the military when he was 19, but one night he vanished. He was declared AWOL, and eventually he was declared missing and dead.

The Yule Lads Diarys- Prologue
To say that this has been a trying few weeks would be an understatement. I've seen some things I can't explain, I've seen my home invaded by things I never really believed in. I've played host to forces outside my control, and I paid the price. It has brought us closer, my brother and I, and closed a gap that I didn’t even know existed. Even so, I’m not sure what sort of psychological damage it may have done to him in the process.

56 West Tree
Jeff had been a police officer for the small town of Briare for six years. The town had a population of about seven thousand and positioned as they were in the North Georgia hills, they didn't get a lot of tourist traffic like some towns in the area. Blaire got its share of Leaf Lookers, people in vans or SUVs who come up to see the leaves change and clog up traffic for a few months, but they were usually gone by mid-November or early December. They blew away with the leaves, and Blaire was left as sleepy and quiet as usual. The town had a Walmart, as all towns do, six restaurants, two chain restaurants and four local spots, a hardware store, two gas stations, two red lights, and a small main street area sporting a dozen little shops. Briare had a combination k through twelve school, and the Briar Thorns hadn't gone past the local division since Clay Jackson took them to state in the late nineties. It was a small town that rarely needed the four deputies who assisted Sheriff Whitacker in the day-to-day protection of the town.

Down Below
“Of course Mom. I’m always careful, my door is always locked, and I still sleep with a knife under my pillow.” I shuffled my grocery bags in my arms while balancing my phone under my ear. My mom began listing crime statistics on the neighborhood like I could afford to move anywhere nicer. “Listen mom, I gotta go. I’m trying to balance groceries and I need a free arm.” She pleaded again for me to not draw attention to myself as if that was all I do. In her mind, I am wearing flashy outfits that scream “Hey everyone! Come steal all my belongings then leave me for my parents to find on the side of the road!”

A Lovecraftian Christmas
Like a crash of thunder followed by a sonic boom. Something has just entered our atmosphere. The first arrival sets the stage for things to come. Ammutseba has fallen to Earth to be benevolent for one special day. On other days he'd be known as The Devourer of Stars. Something came over him today, he felt sorry for humanity. Usually, he just feels contempt for humankind. Men are just puppets for The Great Old Ones. Ammut calls Its brethren to take one last look at humanity. Tentacles cover the ground and you can no longer see the floor. Horrors now inhabit this strange planet. Ammut searches for a new way to see things.

October 5th
Ever since I decided to move into a cabin in the mountains, I have had writer's block. I thought that the mountains would give me more motivation for my book, but so far, nothing. My publisher asked me to write something scary this time, so I had the idea to write about the sightings of this "Skinwalker". He was hesitant at first, but when I told him that I would travel and research about Skinwalkers first, he was on board for it. So, I did my research, and found out that there were sightings in Utah, in the mountains. I rented a cabin near the sightings by Skinwalker Ranch, at least that is what the locals call it. When I got to the cabin, I settled down and got my laptop set up to start the new book. Of course, though, not a single thought to start. So, I went out into the woods surrounding the cabin, looked around the area and, of course, nothing. I went to grab my camera thinking I might be able to catch evidence or clues, but like always, I found nothing. Then it hit me, remembering all the research I did, all the sightings that I found online, happened at nighttime. It was only three in the afternoon, so I went back to my cabin and waited for nightfall. I Thought to myself that I would take a nap until the moon rises. I sat on the couch drifting off to the comfort of the fireplace. I got woken up by an unrealistic shriek that almost sounded like an animal, but not like any animal I’ve ever heard. I noticed that it was around 10pm, and pitch black out, so this is the perfect time to go out and see what I can find. I grabbed my video camera, and set out on this dark skinwalking adventure. I probably walked about two miles trying to catch anything on my video camera, but I haven’t seen or heard anything. It’s already about midnight, so I decided to go back to the cabin. On my way back, I heard something rustling in the bushes next to me. Probably just a rabbit or a raccoon. I kept walking back towards the cabin while looking at the video footage to see if I caught anything at all. I heard the rustling again, but it sounded much closer. Thought nothing of it. I was able to see the chimney of the cabin, almost there. Then I heard right behind me, it sounded like rustling bushes. It sounded big. I decided to start video recording again, even though it sounded big, I slowly turned around. What I saw, in the bushes, glowing eyes. Whatever this thing is, it was hunched over. It started to stand up like a human being, I froze in place. When it started yelling, I ran, almost fumbling over my own feet. If I can just get to the cabin, I’ll be safe. I hear it behind me, chasing me. Feel like I’m going to collapse. I’m almost at the door, if I can just make it to the porch…

The Fate of the Final Girl
With Jamie Lee Curtis taking her final bow as the iconic Laurie Strode in the closure of the long-running Halloween franchise, I decided that it would be a good time to take “Final Girls” by Riley Sager off of the shelf as a tribute to the woman who revolutionized and embodied the essence of strength and resiliency that it takes to be a final girl. Often attributed as the first real example of a final girl, Curtis’ character Laurie Strode was the sole survivor of Michael Myers’ attacks that fateful Halloween night, but Curtis’ character highlighted the emotional, physical, and psychological burden that can come from being a survivor.
