What Did You Do?
There is something about night time that seems just a bit out of step with the world in the day. Charleston didn’t seem to be a bad place, overall, but it definitely wasn’t New York. Jazz music floated in the night around their carriage, a different flavor than New York, possibly even better, but it brought with it resentment and sadness. With his knee the way it was, it’s not like he could dance even if he was in New York. He leaned against the wall, pulled his hat over his eyes, and imaged dancing, just for Jack, his feet moving like lightning.

Granny and Goose
It was close to Christmas and that usually meant baking and cooking and family and friends. This year was a little different though. Joann was feeling sad about the upcoming holidays because it would be the first without her husband, Earl. She didn't really feel up to her usual spread of candies and sweets and lovely dishes. She was still having her family over and for Christmas and was still planning on being part of the cooking, but she had decided to not makes sweets this year. She just didn't have the heart. How would it be without Earl there, sticking his finger into batches, burning his tongue on fresh baked cookies because he just couldn't wait, and proclaiming how delicious everything was. It brought a tear to her eye to think of it and she just couldn't imagine doing it without him here.

Chip Arrives Late
Chip Arrives Late Room 222 of the RCC HEC-building felt devoid of something. You see, though filled to the brim with students, it missed one integral occupant: the professor. Eyes glossy and bodies stationary, students sat listening to the dull hum of afternoon wafting into the dull atmosphere, forcing several normally introverted personalities to partake in sparse conversation lest they subside into that lulling song of sleep. Of course, the safest topic pertaining to conversing with “acquaintances” lies with in the weather. Therefore, out of sheer boredom, a small section of the classroom began to discuss the flighty, hormonal patterns of Oregon weather. The topic slowly progressed into a scientific conversation and further molded into the topic of global warming.

The Victor
Is it a blog? No. Is it a story? Kind of. Is it an autobiography? Almost. The truth is, I'm not really sure what it is at all, but I have absolutely no shame in saying that it is literally all about me. It's more like my mental health journey than anything, so please be aware that there are a LOT of things that could set some people off, including ED's, depression and suicide, verbal, physical and emotional abuse, anxiety, sexual assault and some violence.

Lies
Mavis didn't look like a liar, and Joan didn't seem like one either. Joan and Mavis had stopped lying to each other ten years ago, or at least they stopped pretending that they weren't when they both knew that they were. Watching the crowd rush by from the patio at the market, they recognized how fortunate they were. Hundreds of people trudged by with shoulders slumped and eyes glazed, trying to get through another meaningless day, pretending that they were okay and that they were living a Facebook dream life. The human droids didn't notice the smells from the market or the sounds of the water. The rhythm of the farmers and fishermen stacking their wares getting ready for another busy day went unnoticed. For the two old friends, they saw possibilities, not extravagance but small moments of appreciation and wonder.
