What is the meaning of travel?
After years of moving from place to place on and off, it's hard to define what travel means. Because the power of walking has an indescribable magic for different people at different times. Some people are like a prisoner bird in concrete. Travel is a kind of release for him. Some man is a trapped beast in the gray swamp of emotion, for whom travel is an escape. And travel to me is the return, to the insects and birds, to the stars and dust, to the friendship with people. When you first arrive at a place, don't rush to pick up the camera and press the shutter. If you just want to show off in moments to satisfy your vanity, then the photos taken by professional photographers on Baidu may be better. But to feel the purity of the landscape, to get to know more people with similar smells, to listen to their different life experiences, this is really their own story ah. I was moved in silence during my wonderful journey: Pingjiang Road, Suzhou, the grandfather who has been singing Peking Opera for decades. Chengdu, the lovely and gentlemanly keyboard player in Uklan. Lijiang, looks a bit ruffian but very nice innkeeper, and singing loud folk songs Naxi old man. Qionglai Pingle ancient town, the old pottery master who taught me hand in hand. Good luck and they can have a hades in the meeting, listen to them tell those rare stories. I often avoid streets dressed in rainbow clothes and prefer to drill small alleys to feel the most simple atmosphere of a city, the smell of firewood, rice, oil and salt. Oddly enough, the people you meet in ordinary alleys are the ones with good stories. The itinerary in the road also does not have to be too compact, if every place to the provisions of their own in a few days to play all over the city's attractions, but lost the original intention of travel, is just a glance, follow the best move. Go out time also need not be confined to the opening time of scenic spots, follow the crowd to see is often a sea of people. In Lijiang, for example, the old town is very different from midnight at 5 or 6 am. Driving in Krueger National Game Reserve when I lived several years in South Africa back in 1983-84, we were enjoying watching a herd of elephants crossing our gravel road. After about 35 elephants there was a gap in the parade enough that three cars in front of us dashed off to drive on their merry way, however the “gentleman” directly in front of us decided to stop and block the point they were crossing. How anybody in their right mind could think this was a good idea is simply beyond my comprehension and just what he/she was looking at soon became frighteningly obvious.
