What If We Stopped Complaining?
We all do it. We bitch. We moan. Poor us. I have been working in the Public Sector for more than six years at a professional establishment that has amazing benefits, it's dry, warm, well lit, and it pays decent. Perhaps more than decent.

Invest in Yourself
When I was growing up, I was always too much of something. Too smart, too happy. Too social, too shy. I never could get the perfect formula for making anyone happy. With my childhood, I oftentimes was the only black student in my class. I was also the smartest student in my class. I wasn't loud, I definitely am not "ratchet." I didn't fit the stereotypes of what they pegged I should be. This would result in me having very temporary friends and severe depressive mood swings that resulted in isolation. I came to the conclusion if I couldn't make anyone happy, then I shouldn't be around anyone. It wasn't until high school that I perceived different.

Do It Scared: Calculated Risks
Huge leaps of faith require so much patience and going against the current. I will say something totally counter-cultural, but taking leaps of faith are for the weak-hearted. What did I just say? You heard me correctly! It is for the weak-hearted. Why do I say that? If taking leaps of faith was for the strong and brave-hearted, how could it make you grow? Taking leaps of faith without consideration of your feelings takes guts, maturity, and trust that on the other side, everything will be okay—even when I take a huge risk that I have never done before. Growing definitely requires you to be outside of your comfort zone, into the sports stadium, showing action and doing it SCARED.

When You're Having a Bad Day...
I'm very dramatic, very impulsive, and I'm always ready to react to anything. So every time I had a bad day, I used to have terrible thoughts, I even thought about starting to take drugs (which is impossible because I can't even inhale a fag, never mind the rest, ahah) or running away and starting a new life (yes I'm that dramatic, but don't lie, we all do this).

Impulse
Three years ago, I met Aritha through our networking company. At that time she was just a mere business partner but I am so glad that we have nurtured that business relationship to a point where it has blossomed into friendship. She has such a huge personality and wherever she goes, she just has to introduce herself to the next person. At first, I didn’t know how to act around her. I often felt exposed but all of that has since rubbed off. When you meet her , you will know what I am talking about. So, on one of the late night calls that we occasionally have, she shared with me, some of her take-home points from a business lunch hosted by Margaret Hirsh, she had attended earlier that day. The passion she exuded in her narration, just lit an uncontainable curiosity in me. I wanted to know who this host was, what they do for a living and whether they host similar events in Gauteng. I wanted to sound as excited for the future as my friend did.

What to Do When You Hit Rock Bottom
You've lost your job. Your boyfriend dumped you. The car won't start. Every day seems to bring on new stress. You have officially hit your all-time low in life. Could it get any worse? Is this my life now? This moment is considered rock bottom, and it is usually not seen as a blessing. We don't want to ever get to this point but, inevitably, we all hit it at one point in time. I'm here to tell you that, while it sucks, this could be the exact thing you needed. As the saying goes, there is nowhere to go but up.

Sick of Your Own Hesitation
For goddamn sake! Just get out and do it already. As you could maybe already tell, I am indeed really upset. I kind of hate how I never do the things I want to do most. You ever think about the fact that you might be sitting at home, as your 40-year-old self, still with the same ideas and dreams? While everyone around you seems to just do it. Like come on, Nike even said it first, just do it. Well, maybe... someday... not today. Fuck.

Life Is Hard
As humans, we have a tendency to hurt people. We hurt the people we encounter for a minute if we are unkind. We hurt the people we care about if we make a mistake and we hurt people we don't even know if the mistake we make has a ripple effect (which it almost always does).

The Voices in My Head
The voices in my head tell me that I'm not good enough... Should I believe them or do I need to make them leave? It started with my childhood, my dad was incredibly aggressive towards my mother. It made me think; is my mom not good enough for him? Why would he do that all the time? But then I thought; my mom is the prettiest woman that I have ever seen in my entire life.
