dog
It's no coincidence that a dog is a man's best friend; they're more faithful than most other animals, and more faithful than many people.
My First Baby
Little backstory here... my parents have small ranch and have used Border Collies as working dogs but also companion animals. So I knew as soon as a I got attached to this little black fluff ball in a litter about two years ago, that I would be keeping her FOREVER.

Do's and Don'ts for Walking Your Dog
For those of you who are proud owners of canine companions, you already have an in-depth understanding of the massive responsibility that having a dog is. Yes, of course, they are our cuddly partners-in-crime, our lovable protectors, and the collective man's best friend, but that doesn't mean that our pets don't have certain needs. The potty-training, sock-destroying, constantly-under-your-feet stage of dog ownership is something that few people miss after their pups have matured, but the most important training activity that any dog can undergo is the W-A-L-K. Walking your dog can make or break your relationship with the species. A quick search on YouTube will prove to non-believers that dog walking can be a perilous activity, albeit hilarious to those of us who can watch, knowing we don't make certain mistakes. That, however, bears the question, "Am I walking my dog wrong?" With this guide for do's and don'ts for walking your dog, you will surely be able to answer that question, and may even pick up a tip or two to improve your dog walking abilities tremendously.

10 Things Your Dog Is Trying to Tell You
Dogs speak a language of their own (barking) but they've developed various ways to tell us things that they think we'll understand! Oftentimes, we don't, however, but that's what I'm here for! Here are 10 things that your dog is trying to tell you and what they'll do to get the message across. *Disclaimer* I am not saying that this applies to necessarily ALL dogs, these are just things that I've noticed with my own dogs and with the dogs of my friends. :)

Here's Why You Should Treat Your Dog Like Your Baby
Let's put it simply: I'm a dog mom. I give my dog, Silver, a lot of time out of my day and a lot of money from my paychecks, but, honestly, nothing makes me happier. I treat Silver like my actual child, well, because to me she is. If this sounds at all weird to you, you may have never had a cat or dog you are extremely close to. That's OK, it's not everyone's niche. Although it may not make any sense that my dog is more important to me than most things, allow me to try and make some sense of it.

Hot Diggity Dog!
Colorado Springs has gone to the dogs (literally)! Statistics show that residents of Colorado Springs own dogs more than they have kids. It's no surprise that this doggone city is home to the 3rd most popular dog park across the United States: Bear Creek Dog Park.

The Hebrew Congregation of Somers Hold Bark Mitzvah to Bless the Companionship of Dogs
On Sunday, the Hebrew Congregation of Somers held its third annual Bark Mitzvah to bless and honor the animals its members hold so dear. Attended by about 30 pets and their owners, the serene setting next to Shenorock Lake mirrored the relaxed demeanor of the bipeds. But the dogs were another matter at the outset of this day. A lot of barking and sniping at each other, having a leg over Mother’s Day may have been a little unsettling. But a calm definitely emerged at a distinct moment of the proceedings.

How to Feed Your Dog a Natural Diet
The older I get, the more aware I become of how much junk and garbage there is in the food we eat. From E numbers, to chemicals, to refined sugars, pesticides, and hormones and everything else in between. Surely this is why people get sick?

To All My Doggie Friends, I Most Humbly Apologise
I’m sorry because I honestly just didn't get it, but I am now grown-up enough to admit that a dog really can change your life. My hubby and kids are furious, of course, because, if I said, "Look, we are not getting a dog and that's final," once, I said it a thousand times throughout their childhood, and I can appreciate their frustration, in that now they're all grown up and flying the nest and Roxy the dog moves in. Mum, who didn't like dogs, is now hopelessly smitten.

No One Prepares You!
For some reason you never hear about what it's like to experience the end of you and your companions story together. It starts with the first knock. It doesn't have to be anything big. The first knock hits them hard! It hits them hard but they are tough and they put on the brave face because they know you're scared and your company is all they want. For example my Dog, Jay-Jay, had a stroke while I was on holiday! It was a horrible feeling, when I finally got to him I knew that it affected him mentally and not just physically and the damage was done. He'd never be that same again. This didn't affect his personality but only his physical capabilities and his confidence in himself.

Puppy Possibilities
12 legs. 6 eyes. And three big hearts. About three and a half years ago, my partner and I moved in together following our first year anniversary. It was momentous for both of us because we both knew we found the person we would stay with until we're dead. She'd chuckle at that statement because we joke that we are dead inside already. #deadinsidememesFTW
