Let Me Go, You Are Squeezing My Heart Too Tight

Hearts need love, not crushing

Let Me Go, You Are Squeezing My Heart Too Tight

Let me go,

You are squeezing my heart too tight,

Love should not feel like iron hands,

Closing around breath.

You call it care,

You call it passion,

But I feel the bruises inside my chest,

Finger marks no one can see.

I cannot bloom in a locked room,

Cannot breathe under your fear,

Your love is a locked door,

And I am tired of knocking.

You pull me close like I might vanish,

But the tighter you hold,

The further I disappear,

Until I am barely there at all.

Let me go before I harden,

Before softness turns to stone,

Before I forget how to feel,

Without flinching first.

If you love me, loosen,

If you care, open your hands,

Hearts are not meant for cages,

They beat best when free.
