Live And Let Live

Keep your self out of my life

Live And Let Live

I am not here to be polished for you,

Not here to soften my edges,

My voice was born rough,

And it fits my mouth just fine.

You look at me like I should bend,

Like I should quiet the truth in my chest,

But I have swallowed enough silence,

It never tasted good going down.

Live and let live, it is not hard,

Turn your head if you must,

Not every life needs your approval,

Not every flame needs your breath.

I walk the way I walk,

I speak the way I speak,

If it unsettles you, ask yourself why,

Do not lay that weight on me.

There is space for all of us here,

Space without fences in the air,

You keep your ground, I will keep mine,

We do not need to clash to exist.

So let me live, steady and real,

Not trimmed to suit your comfort,

And I will grant you the same mercy,

Go on, live, and let live.
