Unofficial Laughing with Limericks Challenge
Let’s have fun with silly limericks 😂

I wanted to try out this creating an unofficial challenge thang:
As a want-to-be comedy writer and standup comedian I love to write things that are absurd and silly.
So I challenge you to write the funniest limerick (I’m assuming you know what a limerick is).
I love to read silly things as well so inundate me with your funny limericks. Write as many as you’d like but in different new stories. The more absurd the better.
Post in Poets. Include a link to this challenge in your entry, please 🙏🏼.
Extra points if it’s clean and shareable!
Winners receive:
#1 $10 and a comment and like
#2 and 3 split $5… just kidding… you get $5 each. Also, I’ll comment and like (probably I will every entry if I can find it).
I won a few bucks on here for my shenanigans so I’m paying it forward to those that entertain me with their silliness.
I can’t wait to read your entries and start my days laughing at your expense (I mean because you are so funny 👀 😅).
A definition of a limerick so you don’t have to look it up:
A limerick is a humorous, five-line poem with a strict rhyme scheme of AABBA and a bouncy, rhythmic (anapestic) meter. Typically, lines 1, 2, and 5 are longer and rhyme with each other, while lines 3 and 4 are shorter and rhyme with each other, creating a short, often witty or absurd, tale.
Key Characteristics of a Limerick:
Structure: Five lines total.
Rhyme Scheme: AABBA (Lines 1, 2, and 5 rhyme; lines 3 and 4 rhyme).
Meter/Rhythm: A "da DUM da da DUM" (anapestic) rhythm, usually with 3 beats in lines 1, 2, and 5, and 2 beats in lines 3 and 4.
Tone: Usually humorous, lighthearted, nonsensical, or sometimes bawdy.
Content: Frequently introduces a person and a location in the first line.
Here is one as a rough example:
Two roommates in midlife, not courting,
Like teens with good credit reporting.
We swear were not gay,
To peoples dismay,
Our situationship is getting annoying.
Have fun and be silly!
