Sorry, Karl :(
The great Karl Lagerfeld once said “Sweatpants are a sign of defeat. You lost control of your life so you bought some sweatpants.” While his numerous groundbreaking and gorgeous designs for Chanel and Fendi will stand the test of time, this quote of his most certainly didn’t. As now more and more high-end brands push forward not only sweatpants but full tracksuits as part of their latest offerings season after season.

Millennials: This is Who We Are
The Rise of The Social Media Mind Social Media ads are stalking us 24/7. Most of us are aware of it, but sometimes we just can’t stop ourselves. I know I click on those ads constantly. In fact, it’s incredibly distracting. I will pick up my phone to do something, open Facebook by muscle memory and habit alone, and start scrolling before I even realize that I am not doing what I intended to be doing. Within seconds, I’m seeing an ad that entices me and boop, I click on it. Sometimes I’m too impulsive and the next thing I know I’m putting in my credit card information. Boop - that easy. Social media has changed the way we shop, the way we interact, the way we spend our free time, even the way we think. And they know what we are thinking.

However, the unsung advertisements with unusual little artistic designs from independent artists are the ones that caught my eye the most.

Coat Thinner than a Robe
I often tell my mother that I feel like someone is either listening to my phone calls or there is something that is implanted in my computer and cellphone to read my thoughts. How many times have you mentioned the need for something and log onto one or more Social Media sites and see an ad for that product? Well, this is what happened to me on the day I made my first purchase that was influenced by Social Media.

"You Bought What?"
It has been a real year. I have genuinely never spent more time aimlessly staring at things on my phone that I want to buy but don’t need while I sit on my couch doing absolutely nothing. And if you’re feeling slightly guilty about the unnecessary items you purchased while scrolling through Instagram for seven hours straight, truly believing they would fill your life with all the joy it had been missing, don’t worry! You’re not alone.
