My Media Fit
I was becoming blind to the ads set on my news feed that were in place to entice and distract me from what I really intended to use my social media account for. I had to find a way to ignore the ads that would appear like deranged stalkers on my feed, minutes after I looked up something online in what I thought was the privacy of my own computer or cell phone. Privacy settings that are now partial, only allowing me to block and keep certain things or people away from what I see on my timeline. But somehow the ads for weight loss, online schooling, celebrity gossip, food and the many other things that are shown with or without my consent get a pass no matter what I do to hide myself away from it all! I must give it to them, these annoying ads are very persistent!

Elsa Peretti
Elsa Peretti... Tiffany's designer passed into the next life on 3/18/2021. I don't claim to know everything there is about her, but on the outside, it appears that she must have had a beautiful life. Sketch pads, organic fragments, memories of modeling for Halson, and a home near Barcelona? Oh, and a career of blue boxes. What an existence! Of course, we only know what we see...but what we see is pretty amazing.

Like many people lately I have heard of Stitch Fix several times but only recently decided to try it for myself. A little bit of background to explain my hesitation. As far back as I can remember, I have always hated clothes shopping for a variety of reasons. Being from a smaller town there were limited options and getting my grandmother and legal guardian to agree with me on anything that I liked was excessively difficult. Admittedly when it came to style I have a long history of being lazy because I was always involved in multiple extracurricular activities that usually provided t-shirts. By the time I got old enough to care about looking cute I had no idea where to start and with most of my friends being guys there was no outside help. My style became resigned to functionality over fashion and acquiring new clothes became a matter of what activities I was doing or who of my circle had old shirts that I could adopt. When I heard about Stitch Fix I was largely in disbelieve about the stylists being able to come up with something cute that I would like and I have issues spending money on myself in general.

Far From Ugg.
Slowly, over the course of all our various lockdowns (we've had three in the U.K. where I live), most of my wardrobe has become loungewear. It started with Kim Kardashian's Skims line, which cleverly pivoted away from the shapewear of its launch soon after the pandemic hit. Sure, boob tape and sheer sculpt tights are still available on the website, but none of us need stuffing into hot little dresses now; we're not going out. The brand may have taken its inspiration from Kim's own experiments with duct tape, but also definitely follows in the footsteps of Spanx, the shapewear line that made its founder a billionaire. Turns out there is big business in shapewear, especially once you start selling more than, well, shapewear. With most of spending all of our time at home, Skims churned out line after line of soft, supple, comfy-but-sexy loungewear. In the social media campaigns for this Skims 2.0, Kim swapped her famous friends with fit-model proportions for real women ranging from the average to the plus-plus size. There wasn't a true twiglet amongst them (aside from Kendall of course), and stretch marks, saggy boobs and little lumps of cellulite stood out in photos. Still, these women looked good; they looked like they were having a good time, but still glamorous even as they relaxed. I was intrigued.
