My wonderful sudoku adventure. Top Story - November 2024.
Are you a person who likes to do puzzles? I'm not. Yet I find I am drawn to sudoku with almost a passion, and one that I find hard to explain. Unravelling a sudoku puzzle, to me, is like unravelling a problem in life.

Diary of a wimpy poet
Dear Diary, I know you don't really exist, I know I don't really keep a daily journal, despite the recommendations of just about every 'creative writing' pundit. I know you are only an imaginary diary, a pretend friend, but I am going to address you thus in any case. Get over it!

Just met Donald Trump
Am I the only person who feels any sense of optimism about various recent election results in the USA and its little cousin across the water, the UK? I make no comment about my preferences for the numerous candidates or how I may have voted in the one election I voted in. I tend to avoid discussing politics online as it just leads to bullying and noise.

Dear Tracey
Dear Tracey, We have never met. I just wanted to write you this letter of thanks. Thank you for your work. Thank you for your life's struggle. Though the road may have been rough at times, it brought you to where you are now. Art is so often a product of pain.

Crept
I sat bolt upright, as the thing floated there before my eyes. “What is it?” “Ah… ah…” I could not form the words. I could feel my blood run cold, hairs erect, breath taking rapid short gasps. The question was repeated. “It’s a spider!” I eventually blurted out, as I tried to push myself back against the pillow behind me. The spider, unconcerned, began to tiptoe up the bedspread.

Art inspired winners. Top Story - November 2024.
This challenge was set to demonstrate how art can move us, inspire us, and help us to come up with the ideas we all need to help us with our creative writing work. If nothing else, I hope that this exercise demonstrates how we can all be inspired by art. If you ever find yourself short of an idea for a story, why not try looking at a painting, a sculpture, a photograph, or even visiting an art gallery? Choose a picture, any picture and just look at it for a few minutes, allow yourself to be absorbed by what you can see. Imagine what the artist was feeling when they created the work and imagine yourself as a part of the picture. I can pretty much guarantee that, after just those few minutes, you will have some new ideas to write about.
