To me, nothing, says comfort food like some home cooking. It is my opinion, that some of the best comfort foods are fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and buttermilk biscuits. Put together with a vegetable of choice makes an unforgettable Sunday or anytime dinner.

Creamy Tomato Pasta with Steak
Hello my little lovelies! So today I have a simple recipe for you that you can essentially make into anything you like. I've been using this recipe years but I've tweaked it a little bit to make it slightly healthier since I'm trying to eat healthier. I normally add 1/4 cup of heavy cream to make it richer and creamier but for this recipe I used coconut milk. The tomato is so strong you don't even taste the coconut and it is absolutely delicious! Now for this I put in black beans and corn but you don't have to I just like the combo a lot. I also put steak in this for protein but you can add whatever protein source you want. If you're vegan you can just make the sauce itself and just put in the pasta. Meat or no meat this sauce is delicious! This dish can also handle some heat so if you want to spice it up, add some red pepper flakes to the sauce to finish it or add chili pepper when you cook the onions and garlic. Now with the coconut milk in the sauce it should even out the acidity of the tomato sauce but if you like a sweet sauce, add in a couple tablespoons of sugar. I used to do that but I've cut a lot of sugar out of my diet.

Mason Jar Cakes. Top Story - September 2018.
This recipe is one of my favorites because it is so easy, and yet so versatile. When I moved into my new house I found a ton of brand new mason jars in the basement. My first thought was to use these cute little jars for crafting ideas. But, in all reality, I am a really unmotivated crafter. It’s one of those situations where I see a cute craft idea and try to copy it, but my end result never quite lives up to the real thing. Basically, my granddaughter, who is in kindergarten does a much better job.

Caramel Apple Fudge
I adore fudge. But I also hate to cook... and it is massively expensive to buy it pre-made. I just can’t justify using my weekly gas money to indulge my sugar needy palate for the few minutes it takes me to devour four pieces. Plus, there is that lingering guilty feeling about the calories involved and the fact that fudge is basically all sugar.

The Art of Baking
I am a pastry chef by trade and I spend a large volume of my time baking. It's in my job title. While there is no doubt about the joys of baking at home, I've come to find that many people don't realise they're making mistakes with their cakes, My biggest one is when it comes to cooking times—over-baked cake is sad, crumbly, and often difficult to swallow without a good drink and this is simply because of the bad description of a cooked cake. Yes, when testing it, the knife or whatever you use wants to come out clean of cake batter, but if you're getting cake crumbs and clear moisture, it's ready to be removed from the oven.

10 Celebrity Chefs Who Changed How We See Food
The role of chefs has changed drastically over time, with the food world closely following. Chefs used to be background people. Customers would go to a fancy restaurant and have no idea who was cooking their food. That is not the case anymore. People now go to eat at restaurants that were written up for having an incredible chef. Today chefs' jobs usually go beyond the kitchen and into the public eye. Most influential chefs have starred on cooking shows, published books, and are social media stars and philanthropists.

Books by Celebrity Chefs You Need to Read
If you ask me, there's never a bad occasion to buy a new book. Personally, I find I enjoy an influx of books after every birthday or Christmas I experience. Finding myself inundated with gift cards from Target or Barnes & Noble, I take the opportunity to stock up on new books by celebrity chefs I follow. The business of writing about food is incredibly booming right now, which is a blessing and a curse. There are more books being written about food than ever before, but that also means there is more riffraff to sort through. This month, I've come across a collection of fantastic books by celebrity chefs (both old and new) that absolutely belong in your library. So without further ado, I invite you to explore my books of the month!
