satire
Relationship satire can be cathartic; when love hurts too much, just laugh.
Our Cold Paths
As a brief introduction, I just wanted to thank you for taking interest in my story. As this is my first work that I will have published here on Vocal. I also wanted to note that I thought considerately about which community to share this in, either poetry or horror and eventually decided that maybe it would be best in the 'humans' category figuratively speaking it is a sad satire of human emotion and the role that it plays in the strength of a relationship both with the self and in partnerships. I hope you enjoy and, once again, thank you.

The 3 Legged Turkey
THE 3 LEGGED TURKEY.. Getting close to Christmas . Christmas is coming and not a Turkey in site! (until now!) Driving in the outback of Australia and on a dusty dirt road I suddenly chanced on a large wild Bush Turkey right in the middle of the dirt road and not able to get off because of Thorny Blackberry bushes on both sides of the road.

How to Stop Feeling Like Crap
We all know that our looks are where most of our worth comes from right? And maybe recently you’ve just come to the conclusion that you mightn’t be even average looking because somebody told you that you were an ugly bitch. Look, it’s not your fault OK? You were born with deficient genes and that whole myth of ‘marry a rich man’ that your mother sold you instead of cultivating a rich sense of independence and pride in your own interests and work ethic is kinda fucked now isn’t it? If you had just realised that you were ugly sooner. Goddammit.

Tales from the Author: The Caterpillar Joke
Once upon a terribly dreary time in a blink-and-you-miss-it stretch of the Earth called Skyview, Kansas, there was a perfectly normal if mournfully forlorn fellow named Randy Allen Wilkes, and his was a broken heart: His beloved wife of ten years, Delores Lucille, had been killed in a twisted, burning wreck with a very drunk driver on her ironic way to work at a local pub called “Mug/Shots,” a truly lamentable occurrence which took place nearly seven years prior to the moment in which I find myself typing these words in and amidst the very wrong tale of one man’s woe in the aftermath of loss.

The One and Only Reflection on 2020 You Need
Have you ever walked into a party with a group of friends, and that group of friends just won't stop talking about something that had happened at the same party that's held every year, and they haven't stopped talking about this insane, radical thing that happened, well, a year ago?

Valentine's Day Dinner
VALENTINE’S DAY DINNER Milo sat hunched over a cherry stained table in the living room of his one bedroom apartment. His pupils pulsed with each surge of creativity, legs ensnarling the amber coloured chair he sat upon. Milo’s right hand, his writing hand, brought the plastic ballpoint pen he held to a nervous breaking point. His thin lips twitched, mouthing the words of the scene being furiously scratched in blue ink over the pages of his notebook.

Before Karen, there was "Nanni"
We tend to assume that ancient tablets are reserved for very important details like the birth stories of heroes, royal lineages, key battles, commandments from God... At the very least, things noteworthy enough to chisel into stone.
