Is Medical Care Making Us Sick?
I am old enough to remember when doctors made house calls. When you got to talk to your doctor about your ailments until you were satisfied. When there was a doctor on call in case your doctor was busy. The image of the kindly, old doctor was on television, in magazines and even was immortalized by Norman Rockwell. Now, that has all changed.

Bullying Society
It seems that bullying has become normal. If you think it's something that only happens in schools — think again. I don't believe kids just become bullies for no reason — it's something they pick up from their environment, namely from adults. Children are just more vulnerable to the effects of it — hence we notice it more. But look around in the so-called "grown up world". The Media is constantly bullying celebrities, because well — scandals sell better. Advertising is bullying consumers by telling them what they should look like, smell like, think like. You don't have a six pack? You're fat. You don't wear designer clothes? Your style sucks. You don't fuck a lot of girls? You're a loser. The message is loud and clear — you are not good enough as you are, not until you spend some money on our products and become desirable to all.

In What Ways Can Service User Involvement Help to Address Power Imbalance in Health and Social Care
This essay will look at what power is and why it is important in health and social care and how it impacts the relationships of the service user and provider. It will also assess the different forms of power that the service user may go through and how some of those forms may not be so obvious. The essay will look at an article from the British Journal of Learning Disabilities (BJLD), "It’s Only Right That We Get Involved: Service-user Perspectives on Involvement in Learning Disability Services" (Hoole and Morgan, 2010), where service users are involved with their care and compare it to theories such as those of Ivan Illich, Arnsteins Ladder, Kwok-TFu Wong and Henderson and Pochin (reference). It will also address the importance of advocacy and citizenship as part of the framework to a service user’s input to their package of care and care needs good overview of approach to essay

The Summer Top Up Sale
Keep some moisturising cream on hand for those hot summer days in the sun. The best place to buy it: The Body Shop. I did some research to determine how much I saved on my fine luxury items that I had bought in The Body Shop summer sale; I had to do a bit of maths to know what the percentage was of each product, I do have to point out that I did have to use a calculator to work it out. Never got on with maths in the first place; plus the receipt didn't really have much of the original price on it, so I had to look it up for starters.

What Is a Personal Trainer?
When the term 'Personal Trainer' is mentioned, a lot of images are conjured up in the mind. Most involve pushing people to their limits, whilst the trainer is shouting at this poor sweaty person, who looks like they are about to pass out, vomit, or worse, both. But we really aren't like that at all (Unless, of course, you ask us to be!)

Can Technology Heal Blindness?
While the world and technology has become more accommodating to the visually impaired, blindness remains a huge issue for many people who either used to be able to see before losing their vision or never saw at all. While braille and seeing eye dogs have helped, many scientists believe that assistive technologies can be developed that can further help the blind.

The Way Things Used To Be
One cannot help wonder by looking at the events that are occurring around the world today that maybe we would all wish things were back the way they used to be. Long before the Internet and smart phones we managed quite nicely with rotary telephones and remoteless TVs. We actually had to get up to change the TV channel. There were only three channels so there wasn't much debate on what channel to turn to. Not like it is today. Many of us can even remember the days before families got their first television set. Back then the radio was the family entertainment. Imagination is a wonderful experience. But, as we look around today there is too much stress, worry, and even with all those technological marvels of modern living today we really aren't connected like people were those many years ago.

Health Frauds People Still Believe In
Back in the 19th century, one of the fastest ways people made a quick buck was through selling quack cures for everything. One of the most common fraudulent panaceas that would be hawked was snake oil. Nowadays, we know that snake oil does absolutely nothing for one's health. But, back in the day, gullible people would snap up bottle after bottle.
