Plant Based Lifestyle–One Year Later
One year ago today, I embarked on a journey that has totally changed my life. After suffering in pain for 21 years after a car accident, and finding no relief through conventional medicine, I sought alternative methods. I asked the Divine for help. I was using a cane and a wheelchair seemed to be in my near future. I knew I had a trip to Italy coming up in 11-12 months. Something had to shift.

Healthy and Healthy for You are Two Different Things
If you were to go on ten different health or weight loss websites, you are likely to find ten different approaches to achieving your goal. One may stress that going vegetarian or vegan is the best diet. Someone else may recommend an all raw foods diet. One expert will tell you to eliminate all carbs while another will be just as adamant that healthy whole grains are absolutely necessary for health. And on and on it goes!

Garlic and Onions: Two Foods With a Medicinal Kick
On June 7th, 2017 the University of Guelph announced the findings of Prof. Suresh Neethirajan’s work with onions and the plant's ability to create a hostile environment for cancer cells in the body. Onions are an organic sulfur food, containing some powerful flavonoids. Flavonoids in the most simple explanation are the workhorse part of an antioxidant (Dimitrios, B. 2006). Antioxidants and flavonoids are highly researched because of anti-carcinogenic and anti-cancer properties (Borek, C. 1997; Le Marchand, L., Murphy, S. P., Hankin, J. H., Wilkens, L. R., & Kolonel, L. N. 2000; Lautraite, S., Musonda, A. C., Doehmer, J., Edwards, G. O., & Chipman, J. K. 2002). Onions contain two strong flavonoids, Anthocyanin and Quercetin. Years of research from around the globe has shown that Quercetin is a viable anti-cancer agent (Brisdelli, F., Coccia, C., Cinque, B., Cifone, M. G., & Bozzi, A. (2007) which is strengthened by Anthocyanin, which gives fruit color. While all onions contain this combination of flavonoids, red onions have the highest concentration of Anthocyanin.

The Most Important Skincare Step: Serums
Most cleansing routines look like this: remove your makeup with a cleanser. Exfoliated dead skin cells away and restore the pH balance with a toner. The chances are you're reaching for your moisturizer next. Most people do. But, serums are the best step in any skincare routine, no matter if your skin is oily, dry, or acne prone. A good serum can take your skin from good to great and a high-quality one is worth the investment.

Embracing Natural Beauty
When it comes to my beauty routine I like to keep it simple, I believe that less in more and soon you will too! We are constantly being discouraged by the media to going out without makeup on. Celebrities are ridiculed relentlessly for this. As photos emphasizing their so-called “imperfections,” are plastered all over the front covers of nearly every magazine. These media outlets are also the largest endorsers for these expensive beauty products. If we stopped using these products, then they would not make money. In order to keep sales on target, they are ruthlessly objectifying us as women and shaping our minds to suit their greed. It is truly disturbing to think about the control that the media has over society and one’s thoughts. Have you ever stopped to think about how many things you are influenced by on a daily basis? How much does the media impact your life and personal decisions?

Want to Have a Spiritual Awakening?
Dangers of Fluoride I am having trouble staying focused this morning. My thoughts seem to have a life of their own, I feel a little scattered and unable to concentrate, and it may be due to years of fluoride exposure. Even if this day’s "scatteredness" is just due to the rain, I have most certainly been impacted by the fluoride that has been in my drinking water and in my toothpaste since I was a little girl.

Favorite Makeup Products by Ulta Beauty
I am a budget shopper, but also a lover of beauty products. I am always looking for ways to save money, but still, have high-quality products that I enjoy using and make me look great. As a long time fan of Ulta, I have tried many of their store brand products over the years. I find that many of their store brand items are great quality and have a lower price tag than higher end brands. Also, Ulta often has sales on their store brand items, which is a great time to stock up and save even more cash. Ulta often runs sales where you can buy two, get two free of their store brand items.

Living a Plant Based Lifestyle
What IS a Plant Based Lifestyle? Many of the leading nutritional ‘experts’ are now using the term “Plant Based Lifestyle” to define a nutritional way of eating and living. They are migrating away from the term “Vegan” because of the differentiation in nutritional focus. While vegans avoid animal products and foods and advocate for animal rights, a Plant Based Focus is usually concerned with the Health & Wellness of the individual.

Dinner At Eight
For some time now almost all of the food that we buy in grocery stores has been altered is some way or another. In other words, genetically altered or as they say GMO is the term used today. I for one don't relish the idea of eating genetically altered or modified food of any sort. But, today with a company called Monsanto having a monopoly of seed production the food we eat already has been genetically modified in some way or another. Take for instance Soy. What Monsanto has done with soy beans has caused many people to think twice about what they are eating. In most cases what we are eating today is a major contributor to a whole slew of ailments and diseases. The problem today stems form the fact that soy is found in so many food products and is the most common genetically modified organism in all of our food supply. It has been altered to withstand the applications of herbicides. Just imagine we are eating foods with traces of Roundup already infested in the soy products in our food. Talk about killing the Goose that laid the golden egg. Well people, we are the geese that are laying the golden eggs in our whole economy with our consumer spending. And when we die off who is left to buy products?
