How this common disease triggers immune amnesia
The danger of measles infection is not limited to its observable symptoms or the fact that it's highly contagious, it's something way beyond this. One of the most priceless commodity of our body is the immune system and the memory it has acquired after being exposed to various pathogens over a period of time. Now, measles virus is especially dangerous because it has the ability to destroy the immune memory from previous infections.

The Object That Weighs Less Than A Pound, That You Wouldn’t Be Alive Today Without
The Human Heart. Possibly one of the least appreciated things in Human History. The Average Human Heart clocks in at around 11 ounces. Yet for a small organ, it sure does a lot. It single handedly pumps blood, all throughout our bodies, providing oxygen, nutrients and so much more to every cell in our body. And what do we do? Some of us choose to eat absolute garbage, and clog up our arteries making its job, of keeping you and me alive, even harder than it already is. But we appreciate and acknowledge our heart right? After all, we did name a shape after it, that doesn’t even resemble it. The normal human heart is an abstract shape, but more resembles an oval, not the “heart” that we created in honor of it. You may think that you’re life is hard. Wether you’re a student, or an employee, or a boss, some of you must be working off of 6 hours of sleep? And then complaining about it the next morning. Well your and my heart can’t just take a break. While you’re sleeping, it’s still hard at work. It can’t just take a break, not even for 1 minute, or else neither you nor I would be able to wake up to complain the next morning about the crazy little amount of sleep we got.

An 'Infection Weather Report'
COVID-19 is changing how we live our lives. It's done so in an extreme way. But we should always be concerned about the threat of infections that surround us. Unfortunately, to this day, there is no reasonable general purpose reporting system in place to help us make decisions to avoid these threats. Why not? Does it make sense that in an era of data availability that the population must remain generally ignorant about the level of risk from infectious diseases?

Don't Come Crying to Me About The Pandemic
Dear Readers, I hope that you'll allow me to do some venting. While I'll admit that even I was blindsided by the timing of the COVID-19 pandemic, I'm really not at all surprised that it happened. I was expecting something like it. Hell, I'm still expecting something far worse. I've warned about such things for some time, and I've written about my warnings here and elsewhere.

I Hate To Say I Told You So
On March 11th I published a thought piece telling people to stop telling me to calm the fuck down about COVID-19, and largely I was ignored. I kept getting told to calm down, that it wasn't that bad. Now there are over 200,000 people dead and over 3 million cases globally. Nearly a third of those are in the United States cases and a quarter of those deaths are in the United States. Why? Because you chuckle-heads thought that this was some liberal hoax, spun up by the main stream media?

Brainstorms IV - stress, how does it work?
Hi everyone! Yes, I am back… after a stressful start to the year with moving and shameful WiFi connection, I’ve managed to get my life in order (the COVID quarantine has helped, I have to admit) and once again I have time to write. Home office can be tough; after reading papers for the whole day my brain felt like it had been fried on a grill. So I decided to transform all the knowledge I had accumulated into a comprehensible summary of my (very broadly speaking) research topic: stress and mental health. Work and entertainment all in one ;) I found so many interesting facts about stress and our health that I decided to make this entry a bit broader and briefly include other brain disorders.

Scientifically Smiling
We've all seen the movie Inside Out, or at least heard of it. It is a beautiful work of art that depicts the turmoil and necessity of our emotions. Ask yourself, what is the emotion you most often feel and why? Now what is the emotion 99% of us want to feel as often as possible for as long as possible. HAPPINESS! I absolutely love smiling! In fact if you don't see me smiling then it more than likely means something is seriously wrong! However the art of smiling is able to quickly take away from those daunting feels and help bring your mindset back to a positive state and even assist with rationality.
