Fast Food Worker Shot In The Face By Twin Sisters Over A Missing Burger

A minor mistake leads to a near-fatal encounter

In 2022, Anthony Rodriguez was a 26 year old man who had just embraced fatherhood for the first time.

In the image below, he is seen beaming with pride, cradling his infant son in his arms — a moment that captures the joy, love, and quiet awe of becoming a parent.

To support his young family, Anthony worked at George Webb in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin - a 24-hour neighbourhood diner known for serving classic comfort food.

The family-style establishment offers familiar favourites like hamburgers, hearty sandwiches, chili, and homemade soups — simple, satisfying meals that draw in locals at all hours of the day and night.

The restaurant where Anthony worked

At around midnight on 30th January 2022, Anthony was working alone — the only server on duty. What should have been another quiet, uneventful shift instead became a night that would change his life forever.

Two 20 year old sisters, Breanta and Bryanna Johnson, grew increasingly agitated, shouting at Anthony over what they believed was a delay in their order. When he brought their food, they claimed a $3 burger was missing and refused to pay the bill.

Anthony tried to defuse the situation, remaining calm despite the escalating hostility. But the sisters’ anger intensified, turning threatening and abusive. Fearing for his safety, Anthony asked them to leave the restaurant.

Instead of complying however, they would make a decision that would nearly rip Anthony away from his family forever. After punching and body slamming Anthony to the ground, they took out a gun and shot him in the face before stamping on his head.

Bleeding heavily and drifting in and out of consciousness, Anthony lay helpless on the floor, acutely aware that his life was hanging in the balance.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found him collapsed in a pool of blood, suffering from a gunshot wound to the face. The situation was critical, and every second mattered.

Remarkably, Anthony survived the attack. Though the road to recovery would be long and painful, he was given a second chance at life — and in time, those responsible would be held accountable for what they had done.

Anthony after the attack

Anthony was rushed to the hospital, where doctors worked urgently to save his life. The bullet had torn through his mouth, knocking out most of his teeth before lodging in the back of his neck — injuries that required extensive surgery and left him facing a long and painful recovery.

Speaking afterward from his hospital bed, his neck supported by a brace, Anthony said he was simply grateful to be alive. More than anything, he expressed relief that he would be there to watch his son grow up.

In the weeks that followed, a GoFundMe campaign was created to help cover his mounting medical expenses. The outpouring of community support was overwhelming, and the fundraiser eventually surpassed $76,000 — a testament to how deeply his story had touched people.

Breanta and Bryanna Johnson were soon tracked down and charged with attempted first-degree homicide. They were held on $100,000 bails.

When the women’s trial began in June 2022, the case took a significant turn. The original charge of attempted murder was reduced to attempted injury, and each sister was ultimately sentenced to six years in prison.

During the proceedings, Breanta Johnson’s attorney addressed the court and read a written statement on her behalf. In the letter, she expressed remorse for her actions and acknowledged the harm that had been caused, offering an apology as the sentencing was handed down:
