I remember when I first heard about George Floyd's death. My partner had asked if I had heard about this new police shooting of a Black man, and I mistakenly thought he was referring to Tony McDade, a Black Trans man who was murdered two days later. I was confused by people suddenly caring about Floyd when I had already seen the videos that year of so many Black men and women killed by the police.

Riot at Chinese Consulate in Houston On July 22nd, 2019, a group of protesters gathered outside the Chinese Consulate in Houston, Texas. The demonstration was sparked by the Chinese government's treatment of Uighur Muslims in Xinjiang province, where it is estimated that over 1 million Uighurs have been detained in "re-education" camps. The protest, however, quickly devolved into a violent riot, with protesters breaking windows and setting fire to the consulate building.
