Rishi Sunak Delivers Spring Statement
Rishi Sunak has delivered his Spring Statement to the House Of Commons in which he gave details on how the economy was managing in the light of the Covid 19 pandemic and in the aftermath of the Brexit vote. Following the vote to leave the European Union, many people who were living in the UK from the European Union, or who were working for UK based companies will have had to leave unless they qualified for a so called “Settled Status”. This may have left many businesses who depend on workers from the European Union short handed as they will now have a number of vacancies which they will have to fill in order to cater for the clients they serve. This will have left them facing a short fall in the amount of revenue they will have built up through their businesses and will leave them having to resort to apply for benefits.

History Is Made At 2022 Bafta Awards
History has been made in this year's British Academy Film and Television Awards as for the very first time, a deaf actor won a gong in one of the main categories to win the Best Supporting Actor award. Troy Kotsur picked up the accolade at the awards ceremony which took place at London's Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 13th March.

Russian Athletes Banned From Paralympic Games
The 2022 Paralympic games was officially launched on the 4th March in Beijing in China. Countries from all around the world will have begun to win medals in their chosen sports and disciplines. Due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine, there has been wide outrage amongst the global sporting community who insist that Russia should be banned from the games. Due to this, a ban was put in place to stop Russia from competing in any sport at the games. The International Paralympic Committee however, didn't follow this ban at first and felt it would be OK for all Russian and Belarussian parathletes to compete under a neutral flag.

Brain Tumour Awareness Month is an event which is heald every year to raise awareness of the different kinds of brain tumours people can develop, what the symptoms are and different ways they can be provided with support to manage their every day lives. It was launched in 2004 by a group of charities which went on to become the founding members of Brain Tumour Research. Every March, they arrange a programme of activities to demmand increased national investment to help ensure a cure is found for what can be an extremely devastating disease.

Manchester Boy Selected For GB Roller Hockey Team
A seven year old boy from Manchester has become the youngest person to be selected for the GB Roller Hockey team. Like everyone else, Max Phillips of Prestwich in Manchester began to feel extremely bored during lock down when the whole country was advised to stay at home to try and decrease the risk of spreading Covid 19. The virus was spreading all over the world and new variants were popping up all the time from different regions of the country and around the world.

UK Plans To Get More Disabled People In To Work
In the UK today, there are an estimated thirty two million people of working age in employment. This includes six hundred thousand more disabled people in employment in the last four years alone. Although this may seem like a large figure, there are still significant numbers of people who may have a disability who are unable to gain access to the world of employment. This could be down to a number of reasons, many of which include them not receiving enough adequate provisions and support in order to gain the education, training and support they need in order to gain access to the work place and start doing work related tasks.

Mourners Attend Funeral Of One Of India's Most Loved Singers
People across the Indian sub-continent have been taking part in a period of national mourning following the death of one of India's most loved singers Lata Mangeshkar. The singer whose voice can be heard as the soundtrack to hundreds of Bollywood films died on Sunday 6th February. Hundreds of stars from the entertainment world as well as Indian PM Narendra Modi attended the funeral where large crowds gathered to pay their last respects.

Increased Calls For British Sign Language To Be Made Official Language
British sign language is the first or preferred language used amongst the deaf community in the UK. There are an estimated 151, 000 users of BSL in the UK of which 87000 are deaf. In the 2011 England and Wales Census, 15000 people living in England or Wales reported using BSL in their every day lives.
