Come Smile With Me - Episode 6
During the late 1980's I was working as a free-lance building surveyor which enabled me to base my working day around my children and allow me the opportunity to generate sufficient income for the annual holiday, running a car, etc.

Come Smile With Me - Episode 5
When I left Stanmore almost six years ago I promised myself that I would do everything that was available to me as life is so very precious. Many polio victims that I have met, and will meet in the future, have an inner force that drives us onwards. We are a determined group of people with a zest for life and all that it throws at us. We have beaten the virus (many of us take with us constant reminders of the battle), and through this battle have developed a force of mind and will power that drives us to achieve the almost unachievable.

Enabling Autistic People to Cope with Change
It’s a well-known fact that those of us with autism have a lot of difficulty coping with any sort of change. These include changes of routine, changes of environment, and also times when things don’t happen the way in which we had expected them to. Autistic meltdowns (episodes where we may yell, thrash around, and lose control of ourselves) are almost always attached to some kind of change from our usual situation. I myself am autistic and experience anxiety from changes of various kinds, and I’ll mention a few of them in this piece.

Great Affirmations and Where To Find Them
A useful tool in facing the hurly burly of the world is the affirmation. Every day we are exposed to hundreds if not thousands of messages from every imaginable place. Your boss, a co-worker, an advert on TV or even a past event all have messages that affect how you view yourself and the world around you. Some of these messages are not positive for you and will hold you back.

Telling somebody not to be “negative,” promotes conflict and mistrust.

High Expectations
'According to Vedanta, there are only two symptoms of enlightenment, just two indications, that a transformation is taking place, within you, toward a higher consciousness. The first symptom is, that you stop worrying things don't bother you any more. You become light-hearted and full of joy. The second symptom is that you encounter more and more meaningful coincidences in your life, more and more synchronicities, and this accelerates to the point where you actually experience, the miraculous'. — Deepak Chopra.

Holistic Medicine Explained
Holistic medicine treats the body as a whole instead of parts. Conventional medicine is used to cure disease, while holistic medicine will balance the body. The practice of holistic medicine has been used in many different cultures and in many different ways to bring a balance within the body and mind. Current holistic principles are to obtain optimal health by helping the patient mentally, physically, and spiritually; treat with love and unconditional acceptance, and establish a relationship so the patient realizes they are not a statistic to you.
